In my verada i have a second power port thing in front of the center console, you tap it and its got a spot for coins and then a secondry power port thing... TECHNICAL QUESTION: Which wire connects to the earth and which wire connects to the power plug port thingy ma bob ???

are the two wires the same colour?

blue and white wire together end in a plastic clip at the end and a black wire ends with a plastic clip at the end

The blue and white is positive, the black is negative ground. i have the same in my Diamante.

Basically yes, however cigarette lighter does not work in this socket (May just be my car?). Tomtom etc all work fine...

its an accessory socket for phone chargers etc, my lighter doesnt work in it either, i think they made it slightly shallower to prevent this for safety maybe?? just a guess.
