This is more of a troubleshooting guide I think some of you may find useful.

I had the stalling issue after only 4000Km on a fresh engine !

Things I tried that you may find useful. (Note not in a logical order of what to do first)

Check the coil connector. This is described elsewhere on the forum. Basically you should look at the coil and the electrical connector that goes into it. NOT the high energy lead that goes to the distributor! Carefully remove the rubber boot and give this a good clean out using electrical connector cleaner. This should be done as regular maintaince.

Fault codes. This is described in detail in your shop manual. (Get a manual, i.e Gregories, if you intend working on your car.. can be a God send). This will tell you if a sensor is kaput. First check the connector of that sensor for wear or looseness before replacing.

Timing. Beg, borrow, buy a timing light and check the timing. Again get the manual for full instructions.

Idle speed. On the 2.6's it's very high @ 900RPM in N. This fixed my prob BTW. Easy task.

Vacuum leaks. Take the plastic off from the throttle body and check every part from the AFM to the throttle body. Time consuming but needs to be done.

Check the PCV valve hose for leaks where it connects to the inlet pipe.

Regular maintainace also helps.

Hope this helps someone.

Good luck.
