I pulled the throttle body of my spare KS over the weekend.
Anyone had a go at flowing these before?
(I did search and didn't come up with concise information)

I am no genius when it comes to this stuff but Its pretty smooth already, no harsh bumps or ridges, there is nothing to grind down.
if you want a better modification, grab a TB off a 3000GT DOHC or Diamante DOHC 3L which are 60mm compared to 54mm for these ones. I'll double check that info in the morning but yeah thats your best bet.

Yeah, thanks. I didn't think there were any obvious lips.
DO you think one of the DOHC ones would work. I have cruise I think that effects the TB

You will have to go to an import wreckers and find out. DOHC ones will fit no worries, the cruise....Eh not so sure about...

Sounds tricky.... probably too much to worry about.
I suppose I should just save for an exhaust system/maybe extractors.... there isn't really much else to do to this slug lol

For less then the price of exhaust+extractors, you could do a manual conversion and get lots more power...

I don't really feel like doing it myself at the moment, bit too much effort. I will wait till the auto box dies. Exhaust and extractors I can get away with for under $1000 right?

700ish for extractors, 400ish for exhaust, then fitting - over a thousand easy...
OR... buy a TS manual for $500, hire a car trailer for a couple of days, and get the conversion done with help of an AMC member or 2...

Unless you've got a line on some 2nd Gen V6 extractors, then you'll have to have them custom made, and there goes $1000.

Haha...... stuff that. It's not that important to me. Damn.
So, if I did a manual conversion, could I keep cruise control etc.?

As discussed on MSN yes, just requires a simple relay setup to trick the car into thinking its in drive while the clutch is disengaged.

Yeah. There was a guy selling a set on here a while ago, and he wanted $700...

I would like to see what these "$700" extractors would be made from. Cause I got quoted $1100 for extractors last time.
Pete....
If you were serious on actually making it go fast, be prepared to spend money. My whole exhaust system was easily over $1500 with still more modifying to go, then again.....Damn....it sounded good.
Best bang for buck would be to get the engine pipe (bottom of manifolds to cat) remade up in mandrel bends. About $450 to get this done and you WILL notice an improvement.
TB Is about $100 locally.
lol Life do you know how much screwing around a manual conversion is?
Easy to say one thing another thing to do it :P Trust me....not something I plan on doing again.

I have a hole somewhere in the exhaust... thinking of getting the system redone with a varex at the end hehe. I like it nice and quiet most of the time, but when I'm doing laps round the local shopping centre complex carpark i want all the chicks to hear my fully sick exhaust uleh
TuffTR is correct, there's basically nothing you can gain from touching the stock TB on the 2nd gen 3.0's, think it's the same as the 2nd gen 2.6 aswell.
1st and 3rd gen TB's can be flowed up a bit :)

I didn't know there were no ready-to-go extractors for 2nd gens, was going off 3rd gen prices...
As for the MC, its the most effective performance mod that can be done, and with a couple of people that have already done it to help I'm sure it would be quite do-able.

RPW make a set, but they are $1000 aswell.
MC.....I scored my MC cheap. Cost me under $700 inc new HD Clutch but yeah...I was lucky

MC for a stock 2nd gen should be fairly cheap in comparison to a 6g74 one though, just have to buy a working TS manual (writeoff for cheaper price) and a new clutch...
Could then recoup costs by parting out the donor car.
