Just curious about the fuel injectors on a 3.0L TF magna. I've run a forum search but couldn't find quite the information I'm interested in.
I'm curious about whether there are better injectors that can be installed, such as from the 3.5L, or even from a different model of car all together, that are suitable for a stock engine and that fit! Has anyone done this and have they noticed any benefit?
I have read of people putting on much larger injectors from different makes and models of cars, but I want something that doesn't require modification, just a simple removal and installation of the 'better' injectors. I know that spray patterns etc have improved with newer injectors, so any suggestions of suitable, beneficial replacements that don't require mods and don't cost half the price of a new engine would be greatly appreciated.
I have replaced the fuel injectors on a 1st gen to the blue tops as suggested on this forum and I was very impressed with the results, I'd be ecstatic if I received such a benefit or greater from doing the same thing to the 3.0L. I know it won't give a 200hp increase or anything, but slightly better running/slightly more power and/or slightly improved fuel economy will make it worthwhile.
Thanks!

Hi mate
There is a difference between the two engines 3.0 ltr has 210cc and the 3.5 ltr has 275cc injectors you can also get a set of 470cc injector, i am currently running these in my supercharged TF now these arent out of a magna but have been machined and modified to fit.

If you fit larger injectors you will have to have the ECU remapped to suit or a piggyback unit fitted as the bigger injectors will be dumping in more fuel and the car will be very rich across the rev range.
In all honesty unless youve done fairly extensive mods, bigger injectors alone will not be of any advantage to you.

Thats what I thought, I pretty much want a nice and easy plug in and go kind of thing, I take it the 3.5L ones should be easy for this? are there are other plug in and go better injectors? :)
I realise about the ECU mapping, which is why I'm not particularly looking for 470CC injectors or anything! I was thinking along the lines that the 3.5L injectors may have an improved spray pattern, and although having a higher capacity, due to it not being too much higher than the standard injectors the ECU should? be able to compensate?
How about Falcon AUIII XR6 injectors? just saw them cheap thats all. I'm guessing they're probably a completely wrong fit, not like the older blue tops that fitted the Astrons and the Commodores etc!...

You'd be better off getting a retune than just getting larger injectors as they aren't gonna do much.

380 injectors will fit straight in.
Do you have any major mods that require the extra fueling? Because unless you have longer duration cams, headwork and higher compression or have a turbo/supercharger fitted then you wont need larger injectors. My new donkey engine is making a reasonable amount of power and is running stock 380 injectors which are near there limit but this can be got around by upping fuel rail pressure with a adjustable fuel regulator.

Magna 380 injectors sound good, especially since they have 12 hole injectors:

Don't intend to do too many extensive mods, just an update to the injectors would be good as its something thats relatively straight forward in indirect injection motors and since improvements in the spray pattern etc (such as having 12 hole injectors) can benefit fuel atomisation, it could be a worthwhile mod to try out. Never know until you try! the ECU does have some lee-way in tuning built in with the exhaust sensors etc.
So, anyone know where I can pick up some 380 injectors? :D
I suspect the injectors need cleaning anyway, so since they have to be taken out I'd much rather put newer, more advanced compatible (such as the 380) injectors back in, at least for an experiment.

Well i can tell you from my expierience that fitting larger injectors to you 3L will over fuel it, the computer can not adjust enough to compensate for them (unless the ECU is reflashed or a piggyback is fitted), it will run but it will be hell rich (the factory tune is already overally rich), so you will lose power and fuel economy until the ECU is tuned.
The above is my opinion and based on my findings over 10yrs of owning and modding late model magnas.
I could have a near new set of 380 injectors for sale soon.

It would be a good excuse for other mods :) I'm keen on the 380 injectors, how much would they cost?

The main reason why I didn't want anything that would require mods is that I could be getting a programmable ECU mod chip that works with the TF in about a month when I go over to WA, and a mate who can programme it since he has the facilities (as a payback for helping him a while back). Just thought if I had some better injectors that I could 'easily'! fit I can see if there's benefit, and even if there's not it won't really matter.
I'm keen on the 380 injectors as I believe with the ECU mod and other fiddling with the car we can get some extra life back in the engine :) especially considering the 12 point nozzles.
