hey guys when i bought my car (private sale) the previous owner said the valet key (the grey one) would only work for a week before the immobiliser would no longer recognise it. is this true? did a search and the only difference i could find was that it wont open the boot or glovebox. i misplaced my keys when moving house and just want to know if its ok to use the grey key until i can find my keys again.

valet key will not open boot or glovebox..

you can lock the glovebox therefore the boot is also unable to be opened by the holder of the valet key

you can use this key forever.. the previous owner was talking rubbish...

Only Xi's have the boot release on the door. Guess Mitsu figured anyone buying an Xi had enough money to not worry if the valet pinched something from the boot.

How much are the valet keys from Mitsu and what do they look like?

KE Ei has the boot release on the floor next to the drivers seat.

guys ALL magnas/verada's etc can have their in cabin boot release disabled... on the lock mechanism itself (in the boot) there is a switch you can flick... once you do this the only way into the boot is with the black key...

our cars have ski holes anyway so its ALL useless.. send some little kid in there and its over.. i guess if the item doesnt fit through the ski hole its ok....
