Hello =)
Recently i had a few things fixed on my magna, including the replacement of my trip computer, and they disconnected my battery blah blah.
Anyway everything was setup up again in my trip computer they set it back to 3.5litre which it tis, i was told that everything will resume once i drove it for a little while. Anyway my Range to empty "i had half a tank at the time" resumed to about 340kms after about 5kms of driving.
So i stopped n filled it back up again to full about 30litres extra etc n my Range to empty went up to 620kms.
Everything was fine, untill i nearly ran out of petrol 2 weeks later. so i filled it up again n this time my range to empty is now _ _ _ like its blank.
I drove my car a bit to use some petrol for a few days n today i filled it back up, it took 19 litres but my range to empty is still _ _ _ ? "I am resetting after each fill"
So what am i doing wrong?
Also it takes a while for my petrol gauge to go up after filling, can this be the cause of the range to empty being blank ?
Any gurus have any ideas?
I know range to empty is no big deal but i like to have it because i like to see roughly what i have left, plus it was very accurate.
All the other functions in the trip computer are working.
Later :)

You could always try d/c the battery again.

Okay i can undo the battery then reconnect it as that is easy have learnt a bit lately. =)
But my problem is, i do not know how to set the the trip meter back to 3.5litres. The mechanic said it took him ages to do it n that it was a difficult job to do. So i dont think i have much hope.
If i ring the NRMA can they do it ?
Or is there a sequence i can read n follow ?
Thank you for helping parker :)

mate setting it back to 3.5litre is easy as
once you reconnect the battery then turn your key to ACC it should have a S or 5 where the ODO would be
press and hold the mode button until it beeps then it should change to 3.5 if your car came stock with it
press and hold the mode button again until it beeps then it should display you k's
S or 5 = sedan

Okay thank you for the info Mr_Roberto, tis very helpfull. :)
Yes the car came with it :)
After i reconnect battery: I will do this tommorow as it is now dark
So i turn key to ACC it will show an S or a 5, then i press & hold the mode button untill it beeps which will change it to 3.5. Then i press & hold the mode button one more time untill it beeps & that is it, its all done. :)
TY =))

if you want to check the settings for engine on trip computer
hold set as you turn from off to acc
it will show you what its set at, and will allow you to change it
also, on the "---" range screen, hold set till it beeps
it will recalculate based on recent driving styles and econ
and give you an estimate dist to empty
all without disconnecting the battery :)

Well that is basically what has happened to me, i almost ran out of petrol after filling it up after it was fixed , so i filled it up it took over 65litres. This is now my 2nd fill since this problem has happened, so i have used 1 full tank of petrol & now i am on my 2nd tank which is full.
Oh well only time will tell.
I really do not want to take it back to misubishi again because my last bill means i will be shopping at aldi's for the rest of my life.
But i will disconnect the battery tomorrow & see what happens. =))

Hey man aldi has some good stuff, you've just never heard of the brands cause its european. Cheap as chips too :D
I get the '---' when i run it real low and only fill up a tiny amount. Doesn't reset the range to empty. Has never happened after a big fill though. Strange...

If you're sitting and idling after a reset the range to empty wont appear because of the divide by ZERO error. You've travelled NO km but you're using fuel so there can't be any distance to empty just as no reading will display for L/100km.

It could be cause the centre trip meter led readout thingy is brand new, "not sure" but cause of some doosh mixing my cooling fluids in my car a bit ago, it killed my radiator 1st, i got that replaced then it killed the heater which splashed water all over the place stuffing up my trip meter, they told me i was lucky the computer that drives the car was covered else i would be shhhhtuffed.
After dat mit$ubi$hi bill its aldi's forever! :)
So maybe cause the trip meter is new as well, then it should sort it self out  i hope
Will find out soon enough once i disconnect the battery tomorrow, before this week....the only thing i knew to check under the bonnet was the water & oil das it! I am in the deep end now up to my bottom lip cause i will not pay mitsubishi another cent, my credit card left town LARGE!

also forgot to add
the fuel guage will only move instantly / fast if you put more than 15L into the tank (ie more than just a small topup)
i think its to allow for fuel movement in the tank when driving, otherwise every time you went around a corner, the guage would drop to empty or spike to full (depending which way you turn!)
just for a bit of extra info.
