My local Tyrepower bloke just quoted me around $230 per wheel to upgrade the old TR to 15" mags and some better tyres.
That may not sound like much for you guys whose car is the hobby, but for me it's w-a-y too much to spend on an old car :).
However, I'd like to put some better wheels on it if only to give myself a choice of better tyres.
So who might have a set of wheels for sale?

Mitsi spares place had sets for $200 (got a set last year) but postage for you may be high-ish.

Two Option within the AMC Forums present themselves:

a/ Place a post similar to this OP but put it in the "Wanted to Buy" forum

OR

b/ Read the "For Sale" forum a few times a day.

LOL.

A member has a set of 4 oem alloys for $100- at the moment, in SA if memory serves - follow Option B above to discover. That member has a mint spare (5th) available at "lets make a deal" rates. Price includes tyres with some tread left.

I got a perfectly good set of 4 15's from a member at $60- the set, just prior Xmas gone. Larger than 15" or especially desireable styles may be more than these examples.

Good luck, but with so meny members keen to trade-up, 15" alloys should be as easy to source cheaply as standard springs are!! (ie: everyone practically gets rid of them, except me).

Yes it is ! plenty of rims up for grabs, just make sure the offsets correct and make sure your insurance will cover them, also they can chuck them on at a tyre place and get a wheel alignment / balance done.

Saturday night I picked up a top set of 15" alloys from Peter, and met a few of the folks as well, a great night.

(How did the engine mount drama pan out ????)

I will, but they will be on a different car.

QIV had an argument with a Holden Rodeo at one of our famous traffic black-spots on Friday afternoon last week, and with the combination of age, mileage and market-value insurance, I fear she will be written off, so sad :(.

However, in anticipation thereof, I walked into a couple of our local car yards yesterday afternoon, and walked out with a gorgeous maroon TR, auto with air, only 157,000 kms, still with the original tape player/radio, for ..... $2,500!!! I'm picking it up next week, but not before I take my Sony Cd player and my towbar off QIV before I take it to the crash repairers for the (inevitable) bad news....

Maroon TR! Nice! $2500 is a bit pricey though. make sure the auto shifts well in the morning, no flaring, check for oil leaks and make sure it doesnt blow smoke, or else take it back :P
