Hey guys i thought i'd look for some help in this section after posts in the 2nd gen area,
so i did some research and found out i can install just the keyless part into my car, seeing as i already have central in my car ('96 TS Magna Exec Wagon).
I don't have alot of money, but i do have time to install this myself, has anyone done this before? Or have some sort of advice or guidelines to help me out?

I went on ebay and found this, does anybody know if this will fit and how to install or has a guide?
Thanks

first up, does anyone know if the drivers door trigger / solenoid has a motor?

What do you mean by a solenoid or a motor  . Solenoid is a motor. If you are asking if it has a solenoid or a switch, it has a solenoid. They are either positive or negative triggered.

Piss that kit off, I purchased that one too, not even the MANAGER at jaycar could work that jibberish out. Take it back, and save up for a proper one.

Couldnt agree more. Do it properly the first time and you will not have to ever worry about it again. Do it this way and be expecting to be spending many many hours repairing the whole thing

I purchased that kit and the automatic window roll up one. Talk about gook speak > English translation FAIL.
In the end your spending almost $100 on chinese crap whereas a brand name alarm (with all those features) will set you back $200-$300.

So so true. Cheap usually always equals grief. You pay for what you get and how it is installed

I agree, horrible system, installed one in a camry and it worked for about 4 days.

Assuming that your keyed central locking operates all 4 doors it is relatively easy to convert to keyless central locking. Remove the drivers kick panel and you will find the central locking control relay. I bought a kit from autobarn and used the keyless control box (dont need the servo motors unless one of yours are stuffed). On the cars control box two of the wires trigger lock and unlock. I probed with a 12 volt lead till I found them and then all that is needed is to wire the keyless box up as per its instructions and connect up the two. Works a treat on my TS and saves the hassle of taking the door cards off and changing servos and running new wiring.

Phonetech has the right idea. If your just going to use the unit as a remote receiver it should work ok.

Yeah, the thing is i don't have heaps of money for this sort off stuff, so i was planning on buying something and installing it myself and hopefully work out cheap. But it seams its not that cheap.
Got any ideas?

Mate, check the DIY thread. I did it, but I changed my servos too. i found it quite easy to install and although 'cheap nasty crap' its worked faultlessly for two years.
