When i broke my car at willowbank it turns out i stripped the drive shaft in the diff on the drivers side. What i'm wondering is are they the same length on auto's and manuals?? or do i have to make sure i find one out of a manual car? hoping people who have done a manual conversion would know? thanks stacky

Brand new CV half shafts from A & L Driveshafts (Campsie, NSW)
$198 for the pair + postage

Better off getting the correct ones for your application if they're so cheap?

It's a bit of a mystery. Some of uys that have done a manual conversion have needed to find different intermediate shafts and some of us haven't. I know when we put a 3.5 manual into a 3.0 TF auto exec we had to get out shaft shortenned to suit as it was too long. some others have not had the same problem.

hey mohit, if you read his original post it says the driver side shaft in the diff. The same problem i was talking to you about some time ago.

Yup, looks like i misread his post lol

Stacky, you can only get a new intermediate CV shaft kit from Mitsu spare parts.
I bought one for my manual conversion from Mitsu for $436.
The part numbers below are for a TH 3.5L manual so you might wanna check with Mitsu if they're the same for your TJ 3.5L manual (i think they should be).

Stacky mate, this is wild hey how often does this occur in a Magna?

Anyone know the answer or is it half common or just plain rare? Normally getting another drive shaft is easy.

Check link below if you wanna talk with someone, get their shop number and you be good to go, be sure to clean all the metal out and maybe get a decent magnet happening on sump plug to catch the stuff you don't get

Stacky, i should have the intermediate shaft from my KJ 3.5L auto tippy box somewhere in my garage. Will have a look later on and see if i can measure it for you. Can you confirm the length of your buggered manual intermediate shaft?

These guys don't sell the intermediate shafts. I checked with them when i did my manual conversion. Only place i could find it was at Mitsu spare parts.

Dunno how common it is but i've never heard of it happening before. i dare say when it axle tramped the stress was to much for it. The box is sent away at the moment getting done up and lsd fitted:D Another question do people with lsd still get much axle tramp?

hey bud, so you know the part you have described is called the intermediate shaft and seperates from the actual CV shaft. I'm sure you already know this but just to make sure I've circled it in red. This is the part you won't be able to find easy.

Hey Stacky, the length of the int shaft (as outlined by ARS55) is a fraction under 40cm long. I would love to help you out but at this stage i'll be hanging onto it in case i need to convert my car back to auto if no one buys its as a stock manual Verada.

I reckon if the int shaft you have is the same length you sould be able to find one at the wrecker since it would be off an auto, hence not as rare. Otherwise you'd have to hit up Mitsu spare parts like i did.

Ok thanks i measured mine at bout fraction more thn 39cm. I wonder if that much difference would be a problem? Anyway i'll ring around and see wat i can get hold of. thanks fellas:D

The difference we had was only 10mm but that was enough to be a problem. Your best bet is to take you old one with you when you go to the wreckers.
