hey,
my brother has a 1997 te wagon
he has a oil leak that leaks really fast about a drop every 4seconds
its coming from the bottom of the engine where the box meets the engine
there is like a little hole/gap on the gearbox and its leaking from there.
what is busted to be causing this?

Is it engine oil that's leaking, or gearbox fluid?
In any case, if it doesn't appear to be leaking from anywhere at the top and running down to that area, and gives appearance that its leaking through the join of engine and gearbox - then we'd have to assume it is the crankshaft seal leaking.
Seal itself maybe not all that valuable (ie: not an expensive part) but lot of effort/cost to replace. MadMagna can probably give you knowledgeable idea of cost and effort to fix.
Other thing to consider is WHY that seal is leaking. Is car high mileage, is seal just gone from age/use? has car ever been run low on oil (are main bearings flogged and allowing crank movement, such that the seal cannot hope to function?).

it has over 240000lms on it
the oil is dripping out of the little gap on the bottom of the gear box where it joins on to the engine its engine oil leaking.
the car was sitting for 7months before het bought it but we replaced the oil and plugs to find this problem.

If it's engine oil leaking, it'll be the rear main seal.
You'll have to separate the GB from the engine to fix.

Engine out, replace seal, replace engine
First of all check your breathers are all clear as this can cause the block to pressurise and force oil out

depends if you do it yourself.
the seal itself is not expensive but you could be looking at $400+ for the engine out/seal change and engine back in.
