hey guys,
do you know which door cards will fit a 2nd gen without power windows? im after a set with some of the speaker holes, and dont really want to botch mine cutting and drilling.
anything i should keep an eye out for at upullit? would KS / KR verada trims suit? or do these all have power windows?
thanks.
i have been informed kr trims will fit thetr magna
no idea bout ts/ ks but i assume it would work based on being told tr/kr would,
i also have not tried to do this myself, i just asking aound at the wreckers about it one day and was told what i said in the lines above

Mate, you wont 'botch' yours by cutting the hole in them. the hole will never be seen if you're putting the speakiers in to replace them anyway. If you still need one with speaker pods, you will need door cards from either a Vereada (KR Xi/KS Ei and Xi) or the card from a TR Elite. You will also need the bracket which holds the speaker in the door hole which can be found on the door itself, attached by four screwsto the door frame after removing the door card.
What you will then need to do is remove the handle part of the door trim and swap it with your non-power window arm (yes they're different) and cut a hole for your window winder.
Cutting the speaker hole is easier.

true, but im not sure how long i will be keeping this car for. and if i sell it, i want to be able to take the stereo out, and make it look stock again. cutting up the door cards wont let me do this :(
if you plan to get the verada door cards just keep your original door cards i the shed or somthing for when you sell the car, personally i get the electric window controls and find a away to install them while i was doing the door card

In that case, you have two options;
1) Buy a second set of manual winder door cards and keep for exchange- cut existing ones
2) Buy Verada ones and stuff around with getting the hole for the winder in the correct position.
Either way you'll be stuffing around with a door trim. I found it was quite easy to place my door speakers in when I didnt have the KS trims. I've just thrown out a full set of door cards with the hole cut out and all. Bit late.

Well to carry out a power windows conversion, you would need;
4x Power Window Switches
4x Power Window Motors
4x (minimum) 20mm length of original loom + plugs.
A Power windows conversion is not a case of finding a switch and 'making it work'. Do a search and you'll find the process in detail, the whole thing should take approx two days.

I think the TS SE had speakers but no power? Or maybe it was power but no speakers, I forget...
Just grab the speaker pods off an upper-spec'ed mag/ver, put a dab of paint on the end of the "screw repositories", and press against your cards. Instant positioning marks!
(Yes I'm still around, car doesn't see much action nowadays though...)

I know that the TR SE did not have speakers in the door. I don't know what changed in interior kit between the TR SE and the TS SE though.

Yeah I think I got it wrong (was suffering from to much shiraz when writing...), think I sourced my power windows from an SE, and had to re-do the pod holes 'cause it didn't have 'em.
But anyway, the main problem is putting in new holes for the screws, so if you follow the tip I posted it greatly simplifies things. The hole for the speakers is less of a worry, as the pod covers up any mistakes you might make, so you've got a fair bit of margin for error.
Also, don't forget to get the little white blocks of plastic out of the door metal, which your new speakers screw into. They aren't in non-speaker cars.

okay, slight change of direction. the speaker pods from a KS verada that go down the bottom of the door card, if im able to source some of these, how easy is it to put speakers in? does anyone have a bunch of photos from when they have done it?
also, where have people mounted their tweeters?? ive got a set, but im not really sure where to mount them. i was going to put them down by the speaker till i found my pods dont fit, now im thinking on the a pillar somewhere, but they dont really 'aim' at your ears... :(

Just a few screw holes needed I think. Then cut a hole in the existing door card behind the KS speaker pod. The speaker pod hides the DIY hole anyway.
We have the tweeters in the original dash top speaker holes. Autospeed or someone did a test on Tweeter positions once (not in a Magna though).
From memory, the dash top holes ended up being quite okay for tweeters. Sound bounces off the windscreen or something ?
Oh, and if you do go for KS Speaker pods - consider removing the factory plastic crap from inside of the speaker grilles - it can squash your speakers a bit - at least it did to our first set of speakers.

All good advice
i have done this recently.
used door trim off verada, Will put in p/W soon but at the moment i lined up winder holes and cut with a depth drill bit as this is the easy way over a hole saw, Used my original door pulls to clear the winder.tweeter are mounted it the door pull very easy and the cross over is in the map pocket. Used speaker locaters off verada but as i have 6.5 inch splits i had to cut out some plastic for the termanels and then used custom screw points to door,For clearence i removed the screw on speaker shroud from the door trim and then trimed out the hole right up to the map pocket start from behind to clear speaker.I also used the std brackets but dont fit as good so get the brackets with the new door trims.
As you can see from pics there is a gap under the arm rest as the P/W arm rest is bigger but fowls the winders.
If your good with a dremal the speaker pod map pocket can be fitted to your trim, just get the screws from pick a part.
You can just use the lower trim if you like but you may have trouble mounting the speaker to the door or door trim.
You can also retro fit the fabric from one door to the next but becareful not to break the plastic pins!

thanks for the advice guys :) greatly appreciated.
im going to upullit tomorrow to have a scrounge :)
ill probably return home with a huge amount of crap that i didnt go there for!
door trims are highest priority, once the front speakers are in the stereo is almost finished! amp rack is done, sub box is done, just waiting to go in.

woo :) got some door trims (grey on blue, doesnt matter too much).
installed the speakers in the doors on sunday night, with custom mdf spacers. also installed the tweeters in the dash. that was tricky.
quick rundown:
took some 4" speakers that the previous owner had there (kenwood), and outlined the shape of that onto a thin piece of mdf. cut a circle out of the mdf and depth mounted the tweeters in the middle. mounted the now 'tweeter holders' into the stock spot for the speakers, and angled the tweeters in and more towards the centre. when its all setup ill probably take the covers off again and adjust the tweets.
i also had to cut the plastic backing inside the circle of the covers off to fit the tops of the tweeters, when they were angled.
