Does anyone know how to remove the rear seat, especially the base, from a 380?

stick your hand in the cap at the base at an end and slide it along the front until you hit the tab. then pull it up. do the same on the otherside.

the upright section of the seat unbolt it and slide it up. it has slots on the back of it.

:stoopid: Yep it's real easy I had to do it to get the fuel pump out.

I'm trying to remove my rear seat to put seat covers on but am struggling to find the tabs referred to.

UPDATE
I just had to be more aggressive with it. Have the cushion base out now :)

Yep, you need to yank on it pretty hard.

Trying to do this, pulled it pretty hard and it seemed to come halfway out, 2-3cm, but is still latched in and I cant see any unlocking tabs or anything to press to get it to release? I don't want to tear the wire hook out the seat base or something...

Once the latches are released, just yank up hard.

If you're referring to the seat base (where your butt sits) it does need to be pulled up pretty hard. You should be able to feel where the clips are. Grab the base each side of the clip and yank upwards hard. It does take quite an effort, more than I felt comfortable with doing the first time till I asked on here about it.

Yep, I can feel and see the clips, and it feels like im bending the whole seat base and the clips are still held in. I don't want to tear the wire hook out the seat base or turn the plastic clip in the car inside out removing them...
*wishes I could use savegame in real life and load back before I broke it if it didn't work*

The wire hooks are part of the wire frame of the seat base, not just stuck on, so you shouldn't be able to break them off.

I had the same worry the first time I took out my back seat. I found the trick was to hold the seat immediately either side of the hooks and pull up in a quick/sharp motion - you shouldn't need quite as much force then as if you pull it up slowly.

Kind of like jumping on the brakes quickly in the wet - you can lock them up easily without much pressure if you hit them quick, but gets heaps more braking pressure if you feed it in progressively.

You want the opposite here - a quick pull upwards will release with less force than trying to do it gently... hope that makes sense.

hold close, pull like its a bandaid on a hairy arm. Got it.

Yep, spot on.

But as I found out yesterday, it is possible to push the plastic receptacle that the wire hooks clip into down into the body cavity under the seat by pushing too hard when reinstalling the seat if you don't have it lined up properly... :eek2:

When I took the back part out, on either side there was a short cord with a plastic hook attached to the seat, with the plastic hook looped around an electrical wire attached to the body? What do these do? Would it have set off the airbags or pretensioners or something if i broke them?

I think the bit you're referring to is just a tensioner for the actual stock seat cover. When I removed my rear seat nothing was looped around any electrical wires on the chassis though.

I'm pretty sure it's nothing but a seat belt holder which doesn't do much of a job anyway as the clip falls off the belt all the time. Nothing looped around mine either.

Can't possibly have anything to do with the airbags as this is the back seat and the airbags are in all the front.

And I don't think it's related to the seatbelt pre-tensioner either.

This calls for a photograph!

Could they be emergency releases for the boot lid and fuel flap? (Or am I dreaming . . . .)

Yes Max, you're dreaming!

There are two emergency boot release 'handles' in the boot, but neither of them is what we are talking about here.

I'm not aware of any emergency fuel flap release but there could be one in the boot for all I know.

The top pic is def the seatbelt holder thingy. No electrical wire, just a cord.

No idea what either wire in the bottom pic is for.

When I first took the seats out, the seat belt holders were hooked around the wires :S
