This, without doubt, would be the coolest and most rare first gen to ever have.

I came across this on J-Spec (http://www.j-spec.com.au) today.
Something you first gen fans might be interested in.

MMAL sure did a good job of making the front and tail ends look better for the Australian Domestic Market. I mean sure the Super Saloon has a more powerful engine but it looks ****-ugly in about every way...

Has anyone else noticed the similarity between the exhaust tip on this and another 'rare' magna model... possibly in the TJ range?

Rear end reminds me of a Nissan Exa, and that aint a good thing.

Considering it's from 1984, the whacky styling is certainly forgiveable.

I'd still chose it over a crummy Australian delivered first gen any day.

I thought he has a VR4 Motor in it?

this car is ugly imo. Its def unique and I don't mind some things about it, but I agree on the it looks like an Exa' commnet cos it does. eww. Saying this, I still wouldn't mind one lol

call me nuts

7000 pfft. only if it was rwd , twin turbo. our magnas are wider/more aggressive if there's such a thing. interior looks like a tn.
better off going for a aussie turbo sigma atleast there rwd.

now if it was like the nz v3000 as in had the 6cly from the second gens plus was turbo'd then hell yea i would want it.but then i would only want the running gear. that front end is not my cup of tea.

Personally, i'd rather get an Aussie 1G (looks better) and drop one of these motors in, or just keep the Astron II. That's just my opinion though...

Barely visit this place anymore.

If I hadn't bought yet another car recently I'd probably buy that Saporro.
I still have the front cut panels in my backyard.
Still tossing up to put the front end on my sedan, Have to modify the headlights though due to orange inner globe made into the headlight.
I love the design, but more so all the gadgets, it has items that are just being added to every day cars of the 21st century! and it was made when I was born!!!

Auto headlights
Auto wipers
Dual area climate control
Fold in mirrors
ABS... or atleast AES, primitive 80s ABS

And that's to name a few, this is what my model had alone, which I am attemtping to intergrate into the sedan, controls are a bit sun baked though :S
My model was the CX which is equivalent to the SE of our model,
So there is still the equivalent of the Elite which was the X model.
I've only ever seen 1 for sale in Japan, and it was 10K without compliance, so wish I'd bought it.

as said, I'm not on here often, anything I do I post elsewhere.

Probably won't be anytime soon, as mentioned I have just bought yet another car.
Don't have time nor funds aplenty.

Really? That's interesting. The build plate from J-Spec showed that it was built in 1984.

na man these came out of japan from 1988,4 cyl and turbo also v6 2.0l,in n.z it was called v2000,and 4cyl was called eterna, not sure what the build plate says, but the magna shell was heavily worked on,you may notice that the water catch rails are gone, the doors have no pillars, and the panel that sits behind the rear door window was replaced by the full chass shell, and they put real hinges on the bootlid instead of those crappy spring loaded things, but there was still high demand in n.z for the 3.0l,soooo,they put the whole front end panels and all on the current v3000 at the time and that was our face lift,so there was two cars that looked the same at the front but different every where else,so 1984 is a bit dodgy coz thats when the tm tp [sigma for us]hit the market in 1985 after the rear drive went out, they also released another version for the aisian market that looks totaly stupid but its all magna chass and 2g runing gear undrneath, and we have all these models here,so its gets a bit messy with all these models but floor pans and so on:nuts: http://i574.photobucket.com/albums/ss182/tefo09/V3000_front.jpghttp://i574.photobucket.com/albums/ss182/tefo09/mitsubishi_galant_sigma_a1210054777.jpghttp://i574.photobucket.com/albums/ss182/tefo09/amgv3000.jpg

That's weird.
But it does seem a bit "too" futuristic and feature packed for 1984.

Aströn Boy

Mines an 84.
The widebody Sigma (Magna) came out 85 and had less features due to decline in sales.
But also had featured the turbo engine variants with manual trans.

I don't like it, though my opinion is the rear looks more like a 1984 Nissan Gazelle (S12 Silvia) coupe than an EXA
