So i rang up Aussie Mufflers the other week, and asked how much it would cost to get a twin system on the maggie. I wanted the Lukey LR2779 or whatever. He quoted me 188 or something? I said yep cool ill give ya a ring soon, then when i got off the phone i thought, surely not, it would have to be with me supplying it? Even so, it still sounds cheap for labour and piping?
Also, if i got twin lukey's, how loud would they be. I dont want a loud exhaust, just something a little bit punchier than stock, and AFAIK - the LR779 isnt very loud.

they aren't too loud. I wonder what 2 would sound like though. I might take a video of mine (been on for about 3 months now) if I remember :P

What are you after? Full twin exhaust with two cats, two resonators and two mufflers or just a two pipes after the resonator leading to two mufflers? If latter, that will actually rob you of power (someone here mentioned that). If ya going to do it, do it the proper way with a h-join after the two cats. See D&T old website for some examples of proper twin exhaust setups. Go to here (http://www.dtperformance.com.au/index2.htm), scroll to the bottom and access their old site. Have a look at some of the commodore setups.

there's not enough room to run twin pipes and cats.
the best you can get is a split at the rear axle.
so long as the flow isn't interrupted too much, the power issue should be moot.

yeah, i asked for a y pipe, he said he has done it before but there isnt much room to play with...
so i havent really got work done before, so is 180 a fair price for labour + parts? (not inc mufflers)

I think that's reasonable.

Cheers wook.
And Vlad, when you said do it the proper way, did you mean a split after the headers, then run two cats, two ressies etc orr?

Yes with a short pipe joining the two after the cat. This supposedly improves torque (shared scavanging).

So it the y pipe before or after the rear axel? If before, why do have both pipes go under the centre of the rear axel like in the AWD setup. This way, the pipe does not have to make a left turn then a right turn and then go over the rear axel. It just needs to go down the tunnel, under the rear axel and the split left and right to two mufflers.

Have a look at how D&T does twins. You just need to use flat and wide ressis and cats and there should be plenty of room in the tunnel considering there's no tail shaft.

Unless you've got an AWD :shifty:

afaik, the split is before the axle, but then again - i wouldn't know!
other people such as hypermagna, and others with tpeeps with twins, how was it done, how much did it cost etc??

For everything done at the Y pipe you'd be looking at $600 roughly inc dual muffler's etc FYI
