hi guys not sure if this has been covered elsewhere or if its an obvious question and im thick but can the stock tweeters in my kj be replaced using the same pods or do i have to pull everything out and set up a new tweeter pod to fit specific brands? (hope that made sense like it did in my head)
and the front door speakers are 6"s aren't they?
cheers guys, getting upgrades soon so wanna know what im looking for size-wise and what i need to replace/modify to fit things.

depends on what you want to upgrade to... most of the decent stuff have tweeters over 1" in dia... you would need to do a bit of work to get them in there.. having said that.. i still might just try anyway.. cut it apart a bit..

yes the fronts are 6's.. you can get 6.5's in there easily enough..

are the stock tweeters going to stand up to the normal workload if the rest of the speakers have been replaced or are you going to tell me im dreaming (i really like the look of the stock tweeters, as plain as they are. Its very easy to turn a black car with chrome into a box of rice bubbles).
cheers

No, they will sound crap. Good news however is a lot of aftermarket tweeters will fit in the pods, just a matter of finding some in the right size.

The tweeter sails are real easy to get off just pull one off and check it out.

When i fitted mine all i did was unscrew the tweeter from the bracket, screwed the bracket back on then stuck the new one on with some decent double sided tape.

Its been done plenty of times before... People just get a knife or dremel and cut away at the inside of the tweeter mount. You will never notice it from the outside.
