@ Mozza
"Google" is your friend. Try Wikipedia as well, maybe "car bibles" or similar sites.
In a nutshell, Injectors are a tiny nozzle designed to squirt fuel under high pressure, so that it atomises and forms an easily-combusted mix in your engine's combustion chambers. Crap (tarry residues etc) from fuel or impurities that restrict Injectors can cause lower fuel-flow through nozzle, or bigger droplets of fuel which don't ignite so readily, or doesn't burn so quickly/completely. Cleaning Injectors - well it CLEANS them.... solving problems of dirty injectors.

Before the Sprintex blower was installed on my engine, G&D Performance in Dandenong ultrasonically cleaned the injectors. From memory they charged $40 per injector.

Ultrasonically cleaning injectors is the best way of cleaning them, but if they don't really need cleaning it is probably an overkill. Based on the price quoted above at $40 an injector, the total cost of at least $240 it may simply be more economical to use the following:
http://www.nulon.com.au/products.php?productName=Total_Fuel_System_Cleaner
Ultrasonically cleaning can be much better, but if they're not really affected you may see little benefit in getting them done. If you are still getting as new car fuel economy, and being well maintained the new car power, ultrasonically cleaning the injectors would be a waste of money!
The above product is great to use nonetheless, as it cleans the rest of the system, is Australian (why stimulate other economies!), and is a good maintenance tool.

Are you serious, throttle in a bottle in place of a proper clean :roflwtf:
That stuff may remove some of the moisture in the fuel tank but no matter what it states will do NOTHING to clean an injector, especially one partly blocked with carbon or a dirty unit which may now be leaking!!!
You can not substitute a proper clean for a $15 bottle or majic wonder. Just like when your engine is stuffed, you can not put a bottle of piston rings in the engine.
To the OP, get them clenaed mate, if you are getting the shop to remove them then $40 is about right as they need to cover the cost of the machine, test bench, solution, labour etcetc Some people have an issue with a mechanic making money but will in the same breath go to myer and buy a $200 pair of jeans made in some sweat shop for 50c

I'd be interested in a good place around Frankston Area too.
Planning on pulling out the injectors for an US clean when I do my rocker cover/plug seals, end plate seal and High flow TB. At the moment I'll just be hitting the yellow pages and find a place that will do them same day.
What price should I be looking at if I remove and reinstall them?
Last time I was looking at this, roughly $25/injector.

Got quoted $30 an injector from a mate who owns a worksop, normally charges $40

Yeh i got mine done at the time of my blower install as i didn't want to take any chances with fuel delivery when running boost/more power. They removed the injectors from the engine, cleaned them in a solution that was bombarded with ultrasonic waves (i think that's how it works), flow tested them and reinstalled them back in the engine.

Did they show you a before and after pattern of the flow?
How many k's on your engine before you pulled them off & what fuel were you running

had mine on the GT starlet done..
$75 for all 4, new filters (have little baskets in them), seals/o-rings, pattern and flow rate tested.. all 4 wern't crash hot, with 1 in particular was terrible
spray pattern back to near perfect, and flow tested 305cc@3bar..
not really any difference in performance, economy got a little better, response was up a little, and idle was a fair bit smoother... so well worth the $75...

Yeh forgot to add to mine, the $30 per injector was to replace the seals n that as well

Just found a company AZnew on the web that do an injector exchange for $241. (all 6)
www.aznew.com.au (http://www.aznew.com.au)
They are Aust wide and distribute through 100's of Auto shops.
You order a couple of days ahead. then walk in with your injectors and walk out with 6 fully overhauls injectors. Looks like that's what I'll be doing. Rather then mucking around dropping off injectors, hoping they get cleaned that day and then going to get them again.

KE and KF Veradas on their site have 3.0L engines.....how pissed would you be if you took in some 275cc injectors and got some 210cc ones back, went home and installed them and then your car ran like ****.

why not just use 98 RON fuel like Ultimate or Vortex..they both have cleaners in them which help to keep the injectors and cylinders clean
my experience with injector cleaning is to perform it every 100,000 km on low mile/annum(10000/yr) cars and less(av 200000) for higher mile/annum(15000/yr) cars using cleaner fuels as the fuel doesnt get a chance to varnish.
unless you have picked up some dirty fuel, or someone sugared/watered your tank where they will need servicing but thats the least of your worries

See there's a bit of a disagreement over whether fuel based cleaners actually work! The Nulon TFSC is kind of like the stuff in Ultimate and Vortex except its much stronger (hence why you use it once). If you aren't experiencing power loss or reduced fuel economy, I just don't see how ultrasonically cleaning the injectors would be cost affective. If you do experience a loss in economy and power, try the TFSC as it cleans other stuff as well, and if that doesn't work you haven't lost, you've still benefits other parts of the fuel delivery system and you can still get the injectors cleaned!

see you woulnd't know if they were dirty... they don't just go perfect then one day.. bang dirty... they gradually build up small deposits.. yes fuels HELP... but only so much.. and especially if they havn't been used from day dot...
you will notice however once you have pulled them out and had them cleaned, as i mentioned before.. they wern't really reducing 'flow' but my spray patterns were all over the place.. economy was improved, idle smoother, etc etc.. all which would have been gradually deteriorating..

Guys, the OP did in all fairness ask where to get this done, not if he should
I will on a closing note say however that I am Bosch Certified through Petroject in EFI systems and I can tell you simply that no bottled cleaner will clean your injectors to the extent that it will make any difference. The exception is the onboard cleaning systems that many use as I also did but even these are not 100%
Now not meaning insult to any members here at all but those stating that the bottle in the tank stuff will clean injectors are simply wrong.
/closed as initial question has been answererd
