Have a little problem with my driving side window. It sould like that the wind is getting through im not quit sure if its the window seals or the top vent on the door. the sound is getting anoying. Anyone had this problem before and overcome it?

oh its a magna advance TJ series 2

Does the sound come on when your doing 80-100km/hour?

Mine does hey, I wind the window up as far at it goes but it still makes this whistling noise. :(

Somebody was saying on one of these threads a few months ago that it could also have something to do with the way magna side mirrors stick out so far and catch the wind

And somebody changed the seals and got rid of most of the noise. I just cannot remember how much is cost - cos I would like to do the same.

I've had this problem with 2 Magnas now (one a TE Advance and now a TJ Sports). It appeared on both vehicles to be the air whistling over the mirror (its got a little groove all the way around where the black part meets the body coloured part) its quite a simple process to fill that groove. Then i went and put Mitsubishi weather shields on and now and i have a new and improved whistling noise.
My solution at present is to turn the stereo up a few more notches. It seems to work for me. :D

Yeaps - but ONLY if you listen to ZZ Top. This has been scientifically proven. Trust me!

When the TE was released, I remember reading the brochure (which i still have :D ) and they spoke about the new mirror design reducing the co-efficient drag hence reducing wind noise. From memory, the gap between the car window and mirror is there to allow the air to flow past better reducing noise (I may be wrong  ) It seems that this mirror design has had a opposite effect as I get the same whistling noise at freeway speeds as well, but I don't mind. They make the car look better and I just turn the radio up a little more.

yeah, it does work.... i've seen a study done (they stuck little bits of wool thread all over it) on the magna's drag and the mirrors are very good... the whistle from the mirrors won't hinder it at all!!

there is however another whistle which comes when the windows are up! and most people here (and in the last discussion about it) are getting confused  . The seals around the windows arent the best and at speed (>80km/h for most) the windows have less pressure on them and wind creaps in between the seal and the window creating a wind noise...

this is totally different to the one created at the mirror when the window is open!!!
