View Full Version : Anatomy of a Speaker
So....
Had some time spare, had a spare blown sub......thought I would pull it apart step by step and show you folk what is in a speaker. Rather simple devices.
This isn't a be-all end-all of how speakers are put together, subs/woofers/etc
Enjoy the pictures - p.s no working subs were hurt in the process :)

Thats soft, I have a kicker that has a black VC... and I mean black. If you gunna blow it, do it hardcore
That was the best thing about the Boston G5 I had, take out the SPS ( cone, spider, VC, supports etc ) screws, have a look, and put it back in.
hahaha that was my first sub....
Dont stress, new sub, new 1kw amp coming soon....
Im sure i'll fry it good and proper this time :facejump:

When my sister was in high school, she made a speaker out of a paper plate with a toilet roll tube glued to the back of it. She wrapped some enamelled copper wire around the toilet roll tube and then connected the ends of the wire to a cassette tape player. We then held a broken magnet in the centre of the tube. It worked! It wasn't loud, it wasn't clear, but it worked. The idea is simple, the refinements are not.

wat was wrong with it? that VC looked intact
VC was infact dead.
Didnt look too bad, but was open circuit - she was dead.....
But thats what happens when you have the bass heavily adjusted, and listening to a live set - bass changes from being almost non existent to over the top.....
