hey guys, booked my ride in for end of this week at PHATT, saved up enough so i could get it done right,

does anyone know the guys there?

and another couple of questions....

1. where should i get the dynamat put?
2. if i have lpg in the rear, where's the best place to put the boxed sub? (12")

or will these guys at PHATT sought it all out?

they will know about dynamat, the sub box will be up to you to decide. The sub will sound best if it faces the longest possible distance

Depending on how much you want to spend, and what you are aiming your system at will depend on dynamat and the sub.

I would have personally picked up one of the fibreglass 12" boxes that fit behind the tail light off this forum and had them install it.

Erm, yeah, dynamat can go literally anywhere you like, including on your ears, which will help road noise, but that won't help much in terms of SQ, or perceived SQ.

No, really, dynamat in your doors, outer skin helps with road noise, and inner skin (both sides) for better response from your speakers in the doors. As for your boot area, once again, if you concentrate on long, flat panels, you'll notice the greatest difference. Boot floor, rear quater panels, bootlid and parcel shelf come to mind, esp if you are going to have a sub in the boot. Remember though, dynamat isn't cheap.

As for positioning in the boot, perhaps you can get them to build a little trim panel to cover up the ugly LPG tank? As for ease of construction, putting the sub in a FG enclosure in the corner is a logical way to. Would be a 10 or 12" suited for a small-ish enclosure.

Well, if you're paying someone at "PHATT" you'd expect them to give you a "PHATTTTT" installation. Well, good luck with it. Don't forget to post photos of yourself...I mean, your car once it's done. We like to oggle.

:eeek: hehe, this guy looks like he's giving two people handjobs....simultaneously.

Say what?

Now, you are either saying that Dynamat wont help with SQ, or dynamat in your ear wont help with SQ...

lol, no, shoving dynamat in your ears won't help SQ, but will help with blocking out road noise. Will be more effective than sticking it on your doors. ONLY downside is decreased SQ...significantly. Dynamat on your doors will only help SQ and reduce road noise. I have a trunk kit split between my two front doors...noticed a big improvement.

2.5 hours figuring out the rca cables had lightly tap a wire underneath the cig lighter..
grr..

its not finished yet, .. its booked in to get a fibreglass mould made for the trunk (as you can see i have no room anymore :( ) trunk sound deadner, and im removing the type R rears, and replacding them with just the shell (no speakers will be there)

Its somewhat amusing that people said PHATT are a good installer.

How is the sub held down?

Have you got a quick release connection for the sub? so if you decide to carry more than some take away, you have room and can take the sub out?

Are the amps bolted to anything?

There's also a lot better location for a fuse in a Magna....but anywho, glad they tried to use conduit - would have been nice for them to actually run the conduit all the way to the fuse....

sub is not bolted down, its temp, they are making fibreglass mould for behind the light

quick release? its just got standard red and black wires going in, which are a piece of cake to remove.

yes amps are bolted

That makes a bit more sense now.

As for the amps, are they bolted to MDF or just screwed into the floor?

I prefer velcro for amps than screws. :D

Did you get anything else installed - i.e. front speakers?

jvdesensi

type R rear
DDLinear fronts
12" kicker
alpine mono

It was so PHATT your fuel gauge and speedo broke. So what happened? RCA cables were grounding themselves near the ciggie lighter plug? Sounds a bit dodge to me. I'm interested to see they'll do with a FG box.

I wonder if you can make a lpg powered sub. Have some sort of valve that opens in the same frequencies as the sub, and sparks, to create and explosion. Your problem would be having a chamber or enclosure to attain the correct frequency, and try not to blow up your car. You'd also need an intake-exhaust system, bit like an engine really.

Keep us posted.

no it wasnt PHATT mate,

where they put the left over RCA's, under the ciggie lighter, it had tapped out a plug (b105) , once that was in, perfecto.
