Hi guys,

last year around may/june.. i got new wheels (p6's) and an balance and alignment, a couple of days later while turning right around a long corner (in the wet) the car slid out and i went forward over the gutter seperating the two roads. rim was dinted about 1-2 cm in, and i called RACV cause i had free to go,

now, when i replaced the tyre (which had a hole right through it) and used the spare rim (which is perfectly ok) for the time before i went in to see the tyre specialist, everytime the car would go over 60 it would SHAKE and i mean WOBBLE SHAKE, like OMG its going to fall apart....

so i took it there, they did an alignment and now its OK, however NOT THE SAME, everytime it hits 100-110 + it has a SLIGHT shake, that i can notice, and just when steering in general in via's to the left, i mean the steering wheel pulls my car (if my hands are not on it) LEFT and i mean LEFT,

does anyone have any ideas? tyre people say its cause i have bald tyres but thats b/s... and i know it.. any OTHER suggestions???

cheers

If your tyres are bald this CAN cause vibration as the tyres will not wear perfectly round. They may be out of round thus causing the problem

The pulling can also be the same issue or could be a bent steering part from the accident. Generally the lower control arms are not that hard to bend and will cause the car to wander

Well if you know (or no) so much why post the question

Have YOU actually put the wheels on a balancer and checked to see if they are out of round????? I would imagine not.

If you have bald tyres then you are actually right, there will be no vibrations as you will not be driving the car and putting both yourself and the general public at risk!!

As for the cost of the arm, you can get second hand ones at reasonable prices from cars hit in the back, the only way to tell if it is bent is if you measure it, no one can look and "tell it's alright"

Not having a go, just stating fact :)

Beat me to it (lower control arm).

Had a similar accident in my previous car. Lower control arm 'looked' fine, however was off a fraction, as such - no amount of wheel alignments would stop the car from wandering.

Has a wheel balance been done?

a wheel balance yes and alignment was done straight after, it fixed it 99% but that 1% of the time it still shakes a tad,

ill ring mitsu tomorrow and get a quote for lower control arm.

is there one on either side, or just the one>

also, who fits them...

Before you go spending hundreds of bucks on parts you may not need find out what the issues is

I do not care much for the "i have bald tyres but they are not causing any issue" business as anyone with even the slightest knowledge will tell you that a tyre can cause drag, even new tyres can give issues

ok, if i want to see if its the tyres.. i just replace them yes, 2 brand new p6's?

should i tell them to check anything while there at it.

anything to do with rims etc...??
