hi guys

ive got a tr-ts workshop manual but i coudlnt find the info i was after. I was wanting to know if i was able to get a pajero DOHC 6g, that if i use verada parts on it, or from a gto/3000gt to replace items that wont fit transversly, is it ultimately they are the same block and head? if so woudl i just need 3000gt inlet/tb setup and 3000gt/ custom exhaust mani's?

fabrication isnt an issue, but fitment is. I couldnt get this info anywhere, ive tried 3si.org but even lessluck. Maybe comparing pajero and magna workshop manuals would give me an idea?

Head's I have no doubt are the exact same. Block on the other hand? Well I know they use 2nd gen SOHC V6's in pajero's (As when I sold mine that's where the guy was putting it)

I'm thinking maybe they don't have the front engine mount provision in the block and can just delete the bracket when installing a FWD engine?

hey, i got a GTO myself and i think that the only thing that is the same is the block itself, the heads are differemt as its DOHC. try 3sx.com, they have a load of parts available if you need to order stuff, however they aint cheap.
what is it exactly that you are trying to achieve?

lol, he means he wants to get a DOHC 3L FROM a Pajero, and put it INTO a magna, the WHOLE engine....
not parts...

i was going to do this, but i heard that the oil galleries dont line up or some crap. best bet is get a head gasket from a SOHC and see if its the same as a DOHC. all holes line up etc....

i wont have issues with oil gallerys if i use the whole engine

ive been thinking about it today and doing some net surfing on the sly at work, but provided the gearbox mounting is the same, including stallie (auto) and gb input shaft splines are the same, and i can affix a fron engine mount, besides inlet plenun and exhuast manis, i would be pretty set. I know the DOHC 3 and 3.5L pajeros are slightly detuned when compared JDM versions from Debonairs and 3000gt's but considering i was going to use a e-manage ultimate i have laying around for tuning, i wouldnt really suffer as much as one would think.

I guess ill be off to the wreckers with a digi-cam to picturise some writeoffs, try and compare to 3000gt engine bays, and ofcourse my POS rada. I htink it finally ate all its valve stem seals.

so guys i went engine hunting today and im still open to the idea of a 3000gt DOHC but nothing available at present in brisbane (cbd and west of) I found out with my research that it wasnt until later models that pajeros came with the DOHC 6g72, up until 1996 they were SOHC. But from 94onwards the exceed models came with the 'same' 6g74 as you have TUFFY, to suit a 2ng gen (only massively detuned to 155kw), but at this stage im pretty sure there isnt a mounting point for the engine mount that sits on the passenger side strut tower of a 2nd gen. If this is right then ive got no other option. I dont want an abortion of an engine (the last one i got was; never again) i dont want to mix and match engine components.

Im trying to track down a pajero workshop manual, say 94-98, but at the moment i cant find any free online.

so for those who are interested (me) i went to the wreckers again wtih my cam, and spent a lot of time comparing engines and engien bays between 94-99 pajeros and 2ng gens. I got a bit sidetracked and brought some twin pot front calipuers, but back on topic. Even the 3.oL SOHC that the pajeros had, woudl require re routing of all the accessories, and most of the wiring (not a bit concern) the accessories are all around different locations. Knowing other cars a lot better (nissans) i am trying to use teh egnein number to find out cast in differences between the DOHC pajeros and DOHC gto's as im sure mitsubihsi would have used a generic block and head and just used different mounting bracketry and componet location to suit the different applications. I hope im on the right track. If this is the case, then a completely stripped 3.5L DOHC 95 pajero engine can be fitted with p/s, aircon, and alternator brackets and have them mounted on to suit a 2nd gen. It would seem stupid to make completely different blocks even though they are transversally mounted in the magna/gto, i would put money on its just the accessory brackets (which make up the front engine mount between the heads in a magna). I will get back to you all again as time permits

TUFFY, i decided to source very locally, buying sight unseen/unfelt has left a bad taste in my mouth.

As we can all attest to at one stage or another.
The best website for 3.5L DOHC information is below

Have you tried any jap front cut importers?
