when you push the green or red buttons (unlock or lock) do you get any feeling that its working? when you press it do you KNOW that you pressed it? I think my key may have had it, I was able to reprogram it but the unlock button doesn't work... not too keen on paying $60 for a new one :tired:

Possible that it may just need some contact cleaner (metho, etc) on the button contact points?
Worth a shot, costs nothing to try, and if it's stuffed anyway...

just took it apart and the inside is all gross and gooey, some yellowish crap is in there, maybe to stick it all together?
the buttons themselves dont push in or out, there's no noticeable click at all... might be that this stuff got inside it?

To answer the question of the clicking, I just tested my original 6 year old remotes. The one I have used since buying the car I cannot feel any click but definitely can with the unused spare. But they both work so the clicking could be irrelevant to the problem you have? Probably worn/dirty contacts?

The lock and unlock buttons on Dean's (Life) remote are stuffed, only the boot release works. The Magna remotes suck, both the ones that came with my TL are stuffed, the constantly drop out and require reprogramming. Back when I had the Verada, I bought one off eBay for $45 brand new, never had any trouble with it.
I'd suggest picking one up cheap, should solve your problem. I definitely considering it.

Reminds me that i need a spare battery for my alarm. Its the only way i can open my door ( something snapped inside and the barrel just turns lol ) so if it goes flat, i have to get in from the boot.

The magna remotes are terrible for breaking the solder contacts between the battery (I think) and the PCB. Makes it work only sometimes, sometimes not at all. Mine is doing the same thing, but I'm too lazy to fix/replace it :eeek: . I just press the buttons until it works. Yeah, I'm lazy.

Mine went like this and I had to replace it as the buttons were gooooooone. They had no travel in them at all.

Search for old posts about the remote units - there have been a couple with pics.
Its easy to open the remote, use edge of dinner knife on the crack. Take care removing battery from its clips, or you risk breaking the solder joints from battery contacts to circuit board. Or just look at back of circuit board to see if you have loose solder joins.... I suspect one of my remotes has fault there, as both buttons work but sometimes I have to flick or tap the remote to have it work.
One member in old post has suggested ways of padding or bogging battery, as if remote gets dropped the mass of the battery can put stress on those solder joints and break them.
It could be that your button units are worn out, could try contact cleaner as suggested above - can't do much harm.
I got a remote repaired - too chicken to try soldering myself - but cost of repair was about the same as paying for good condition remote off E-bay.
PS: I've never noticed a clicky sensation on any of mine and they work OK.

neither the remote for the TF (that came with the car or the brand new spare) or the one for the TH 'click' as such, they all had/have a 'squishy' feel to them.

110% right the solder breaks and it no longer makes contact im sure Cummins can tell you what it is in more detail I had 2 that didnt work got the solder fixed and they work again.

yeah I have 2 remotes, one is broken like that, the other one is fine - it's just the actual buttons which are buggered :(
