I have got to many cars at the moment and I don't know what to do with me beloved TM that I have owned from new.
It has only 160Km approx on the clock and don't know whether to scrap her ($75 drive down to wrecker) or try to sell her, any body got an opinion.

O.K will post some pix's,

Facts are as i said car has been owned from new buy me, has been garraged all of its life had an issue when it was new with strange ringing sound from man. trani when clutch was pushed in rolling in reverse Mitsu mechanic from japan said at time don,t do anything about it until it is an issue with gears. so at about 92k put a new trani and clutch, 140k had drive shafts replaced. Car today- needs new rubber boots on outers of shafts, needs Valve guide seals replaced you Know (smoke ,oil consumed.) Crackes on welds of muffler have apered.new rear breaks front breaks at 85% tyres just rotated fronts 85% rear 75%.
Rest of mechs o.k
Paint on bonnet and right guard is cracking, rest of car paint ok. SE model manual with air. Just had full service and tune, rock stock. And just in the process of fitting a new headlining for her.

Might as well pop it up in the "For sale" thread here, with some pics and basic info.
A description of the beast and any notable features would help. It's not a GT model, is it? I seem to remember there is a "private museum" of these being accumulated in SA (jokes: a member over there seems to buy lots of 1st Gen, esp GT).

Is the car basically roadworthy etc? Any problems anticipated?
Do you have any younger rellies that might be looking for a first car? Are you satisfied this is a fairly sound car to be passing-on to members here?

$75- isn't much at the Wreckers, but scrap prices have dropped thru the floor with global economic...(yawn)... oops, crisis.

Unless its got multiple costly issues, it's gotta be worth more than that to someone - but give us more of a run-down about it.

Try to sell it in here, I say. Its a good honest old car, with a very good account of a few issues. Though I'd prefer kids be in cars with ABS and airbags (is that what "doggy bags" refers to?), it'd have to be worth it as someone's first car - esp if they were confident enough to tackle valve stem seals themselves.

Deserves not to be wrecked, i say. And, a Manual. Never even been in a Manual First Gen!!

Yes they are very good seats in the magnas, have had the lambs wool seat covers on the car from new so seats wood be very good underneath.

No I just wan't an idea of what you think it would be worth..........................

being original owner itd be worth something.

say $800 would be my guess. definately more than $75.

Good luck selling if you do.

I agree with the sell it to a rellie who is just getting licence so they can learn in that. better than spending lots on a new car and banging it up in a few weeks

would love to help you out, but the cost of getting it here is the killer... (personally id really only want to pay the cost of the freight, for the car) looks like shes a nice old honest car, damned society and their hate for magnas hey...

If you can you may as well keep it seeing as youve had it from new!

And yeah there is an idiot with a hoard of them in SA, if youre yet to pick it, its me!

So if you decide to basically give it away, i might be able to work something out, to send it to admiration rather than destruction... but naturally, theres a lot more that stands in the way!

Alex.

Damn, thats a nice 1st gen. I reckon you could get $2500 $3000 for it. I got $1000 for mine and i didnt expect to even get $300 for it.

Mehh, I dont think somebody is gonna pay $3000 when they can get a TE/TF/TH magna for the same price....

Yes i suppose that i held on to her for to long but it has been such a good car, reliable comfortable & nice to drive...
Don't really want her to see the crusher.

I might fix up the little things wrong with her and have a road worth check done on her, then try to sell her properly.
