put a series III VRX style lower grille onto a 380 SX? I've taken a look at both and it looks like the VRX grille would simply slot right in, presuming all the fixing points/holes match. Any advice around this?

Interesting scenario, looks like it may go but I have problems now dragging the outer edges of my front spoiler/trim over gutters etc. The Series 3 insert looks like it's lower all the way across & sits more forward which would make my problem worse.

Why don't you get it repainted?

This cost me around $400 including the foglight surrounds top grille garnish.

Knotched: your repaint of the front actually looks quite effective and visually looks similar to the later grille. I may get in touch with a dealer today to see how much $ they want for the item & ask their advice on whether it will fit (I'm not too optimistic they will actually know the answer!). If I can get it for $200 or less I would be happy, providing it will fit.

Knowing Mitsu, i can't see it happening - but gdluck, i have to say i think Knotched's idea is great.

Here's another that shows the gloss on the lower grill -

No, no - just old pics Rob. I took them a few years ago when I had just got it painted. Nothing's changed; yet....

OK, the cost will be.... wait for it.... $637. Not a cheap mod then but I'd consider it. Now Mr Rudd, where's my $900 bonus? lol

Still a bit expensive & then I reckon you would have to paint the grill surround the same colour ......... KRudds $900 should cover it.

Yes, I think I'd get it done & see how I feel. If it presents OK then I'll leave as is. Still indecisive. It is rather expensive & only for looks. $630 would cover a good portion of a decent chip. Or a bluetooth installation which is more practical.

Yeah but if it looks good on yours I might do it :)

Yours will look something like the attached image... minus dodgy factory alloys.

:hmm: Don't mind that look, sorta makes it all blend in the same as the rear grey bumper lower insert.

Managed to ding my bumper the other day, no real damage except the plastic grille stuff in the bottom intake, left fog light is lose and paint marks which i cant seem to remove and bent my number plate. Might see if I can do this as the replacement. Can't be too much difference in the price between a series 1 and series 3 bumper I would imagine.

na, the series 1 & 3 bumpers will be the same price, its the series 3 insert that will be the killer - best off looking for a wreck and hope the wreckers dont realise what the insert is really worth

I imagine that actually finding one would be quite difficult and time consuming, going to go into mitsu next week sometime and suss out pricing etc. Anyone know roughly how much the bumper itself costs as well as the inserts?

Ricbec

the bumper itself is around $200......

fog light inserts, cant remember, but they were cheap, lower grill was cheap to, about $40 - BUT, if you want the S3 VRX lower grill, be prepared to be stung around $550......

Paint it.

You'll get more value for money.

I dont think it would stand out as much on the blue.

Re: finding a grille insert 'used' (ie from a wrecker), there seems to be very few wreckers with 380s (prob a good thing, means ppl aren't out crashing them!!), let alone ones that may have a S3 with front intact. The odds of getting one would be slim at best, at least for the moment. Maybe in a few years time when a few more S3 wrecks start appearing it may be a possibility.

Anyone from other States (not SA) had any luck with getting 380 bits from wreckers? There's a couple of things I'm after...

What about the VRX/GT head lights and tail lights? What'd they be worth from a wreckers?
