Life, how hard would it be to put USB in there as well? USB charging would be pretty handy at times - mind you, so would whatever is needed to have a laptop charge from there too.

Your setup looks great, need to go console hunting now.

Regards, Tony

Quite easy provided you have something with a USB port - Head unit maybe?

Actually cutting into the console is easy, we used a drill and then moulded the hole to the right size using a soldering iron. To install a USB port, you are best to use a glue gun to hold it in to place, or a screw mount USB port (the type used on PC cases).

Awesome!

Would that same console fit into a KF Verada?

I'm looking for something exactly like this as I have two things I have to have plugged in all the time, and just have one of those cheap Supercheap quad-adapter things. Doesn't look very good and it's annoying.

Is the part expensive?

that console part will fit in any 3rd gen, I bought mine for $25 from a wreckers

EDIT: btw Life, that rules :p

have you thought about what would happen if you had a charger like this? and doesn't fit in the space?

From where the 12v outlet is, there is 6" clearance from the end of the input to the lid. This will allow you to have around a 5.9" charger before running into problems.

So does that section replace the bit with the cig lighter and ash tray in the TJ or what ever?

Also be carefull what you put in your storage space now, could end up with a short. Maybe those sockets with the rubber plug would be good.

All you would need is some female USB ports, some wire, a resistor that will cut 12V to 5V and a usb pinout.

First post updated.

I did not post my wiring as it is a bit complex (I used a DPDT rotary switch to select Off, Acc, On and a relay with a 25 amp fuse) The lights are already there for 2 (the ashtray light is the same as the outlet light).
