Hi guys

I did a search and couldn't find any reference to squealing 380 front brakes. I think mine is the right front - seems to squeal when the brakes are cold with a light application. It does seem to get better after a long drive and the brakes are warmed up.

What is the best way to resolve this?

Car has 30k on the odo - i would be surprised if the pads are worn with 30k. I also presume the squeal is not something covered by the Mitsu warranty.

I can't feel any vibration through the pedal so doesn't feel like the rotors are warped

You could try pulling the pads out and rubbing/scuffing them up them on the concrete, this will help if the pads are glazed from light braking etc, wont help glazed rotors much though!

Also, alot of squeel is from the pad moving in the caliper etc and not from the compound itself, you can get a good product by PBR that is applied to the back of the pads (along with the anti rattle shims) to stop vibration etc,and by lubing/greasing the area where the pads sits

There is a thread somewhere that discusses the squeal. Many of us have had the issue. Once the Misti pads wear a bit you may also be plagued by the dreaded brake fade and shudder issue. The fix for me was to fit Bendix but the lower CT General part and not Ultimates. I no longer have any squeal at low speeds, cold or any other time. As also mentioned in the other thread, the brake fade has disappeared as well. Cheers...

Just got my 380 last week with 32k on the clock and brakes have been great and squeal free. I plan on keeping these breaks until they shudder or need replacing, then getting some slotted DBA's and probably Bendix Heavy Duty pads, if they have them for the 380.

Just checked, Heavy Duty are listed on the website so that will be the go. General CT are not a great pad in my opinion and they have been known to have shudder issues with slotted rotors.
