I use the Castrol Super DOT 4.1 stuff in my EVO. DOT 5 is overkill for the street and may actually be a detriment.

DOT5 is a different compound isnt it? Silicone based isn't it?

Yep. DOT 3, 4 and 5.1 are polyethylene gylcol based, whereas DOT 5 silicone based and therefore is not hygroscopic, so any water that enters the system will stay there, unlike hygroscopic fluids that absorb water.

yeah and doesn't it (dot 5) stuff up all the rubber seals in a system designed for dot 3/4???

the biggest problem with dot 5 is that it has a higher viscosity than dot4 and hence will wear out the seals
also when installing dot 5 you must completely remove ALL of the old fluid as any water trapped in the system will not be absorbed by the dot 5 and will corrode your lines
dot 4.1 is a dot 4 with the boiling properties of a dot 5 and is the best option for street vehicles esp. ABS
it is actually a function of brake fluid to absorb moisture and should be ideally changed annually if not then two yearly regardless of km's and dot rating

Best budget fluid is castrol Super Dot 4.1. $10 for 1L.
Most cars wont fade this on the track, let alone on the street.
Interesting you have Brembos on your magna ? Can I ask why the upgrade.
EDIT. Realised you have a Ford
