Hey all,

My forward most engine mount seems to be deteriorated (big crack in it). I think this might have something to do with the shuddering under acceleration my car has been experiencing for some time.

Are there any negative effects of replacing this with a poly mount since it apparently stabilizes the engine and doesn't hold it up like the east/west ones do????

Also, where can I get my hands on poly replacement engine mounts for a 2nd gen?

Should I change the other mounts too?

Cheers!

Peter,

A recent thread about 3rd Gen Eng mounts in poly was answered with 'PM Megatron" - so maybe you could give that a go - you may need to get a stuffed mount from wreck to send him to mould into - dunno.

Then again, a couple of members seemed to have spent a pleasant few hours bashing an engine mount into a car at EGO's get-together (or so i read), so maybe Megatron send just the poly for you to bash/press in??

Poly mounts for a 2nd gen...Good luck...
So you mean you need to replace the front and rear engine mount? Front mount is easy, half an hours work....Rear I've never done....have fun with that one

I dont get what you mean when you say "Poly stabilizes the engine and doesnt hold it up like east/west ones do"
What east west ones
and if the mount didnt hold the engine up well your not looking at the engine mount

edit** Elwyn is correct, you'll need to send megatron a spare...
I CBF, got a rubber front one off ebay for $90 when I get to put some kays on it I'll let you know!

Thanks for the replies.... I mean the front most one and was asking the question should I look at replacing the rear one too (even though it doesn't appear to be stuffed)

Me referring to the mount as not 'holding up the engine' was after MadMagna mentioned in another thread that only the side mounts actually take the weight of the engine and the front/rear mounts stop it from rocking back/forth.

I will get in touch with Megatron about a poly mount but might just pull the one off my other Rada for now..... Or grab a new one.

Cheers

The front and rear mounts DO NOT hold up the engine, this is the job of the lhs and rhs mounts

You can make these mounts on your own however I HIGHLY recommend against these as they are too harsh.

Get yourself a GENUINE mount (most aftermarket are crapola) and one from a manual as these are solid

The rear mount is also easy to get to, bolts can tend to be tight but are not that bad

Front engine mount will set you back about $160 (Last time I checked about ~2 months ago)

i just replaced my rear "roll stop" as it is techinically called in my TW VRX with a sikoflexed enhanced new one ,it has helped with wheel hop and and seems to transfer power quicker to the front treads, only bad point,is when it idles bad (mine is tempremental lol),it vibrated more than stock,if it is idling well, not much difference

When i did mine, the engine dropped a cm or two and i had to jack it back up to get the hole to line up,i blame this on the othe rubber mounts "giving" and allowing movement, moreso than it supporting the engine
