Ok, someone please tell me if there is a difference between the spring compressors you use to take your springs out and the compressors you use to compress your springs while your driving? Cos i picture them differently. The ones to take out your springs I know how it looks like but i imagine the other one just as a machining compressing your springs as much as you want then putting em back on?? Is that it or is there an actual compressor placed on your springs whilst driving?

And i dont want no BS posts bout "its dangerous yadayadayada" I KNOW  no need to tell me. If I'm stupid enough to lower a magna in the future about 3-4" then so be it

Spring Compressors look like a set of claws.
You take the strut out, attach the spring compressors to the springs. Wind them up and then take apart the strut. If you dont do this you will get the top part of the strut in your face...

Spring compression involves taking out the springs, heating them up and then compressing them to the desired height. They are then cooled and hardened.

There are products where u can compress springs whilst driving, I had a set, Brute Spring Clamps. they are pretty small and only seem to fit on the rear springs.

method1 is right there. u can heat n compress or use the claws. dunno how safe they are, ive neva seen em used!

3-4"...just ask2 goto the bump stops...which is about 5" all round. after that...get shortened bump stops...n go lower

so who does spring compressing? and what does it cost? i want to lower the car just enough to centre the wheels in the wheelarches, and prefer the spring rate i have now its just right so like to keep the same.

best place in sydney is K-mac.

if u compress your spings they will shorten...makeing them very stiff and a bumpy ride!

they dont cut off the lenght...heat-shorten

i know they will shorten-thats the whole idea........ are you sure they become stiffer and more bumpy ride- they are not becoming any thicker. Tried it?

They dont become "thicker" they compress.. and as Thesecret says.. They WILL become stiffer and bumpier.

Has anybody else ever seen what a bumpstop looks like on a car thats been fitted with compressed springs ? It *&%$s them

i know they dont become thicker- thats what i said, so im wondering why they would get stiffer, probably result of coils being closer together.

you guys been sleepingunder a rock?

as ive said multiple times i had my king spring super lows all compressed.

it brings each coiler closer together. so the coil doesnt get much movement over bumps. maiking it very stiff n bumpy.

getting super lows compressed would be different from getting a normal spring compressed. the super low is already stiff and thicker material and close coils, theres already very little travel before its fully compressed and throwing the car off balance. stock spring is much softer and has a lot more travel to play with. im not trying to dump it on the ground, just centre the wheels in the arches and keep the same stiffness, but ill wait til the shocks are gone then get sports lows with konis and keep the car as long as possible.

so compression the springs is a bad idea?

iv spoken to a few guys on the wa cruises who all reckon that compressing my springs (lovells i think) another inch will do no harm ?

anyone have any more info on compressing springs ?

later

how low r they now?

if u compress em u might want to get shorter shocks...but ive seen many cars with compressed springs...if u compress a super low...itl get hard n ****.

i didnt know you could compress a stock spring? dont like the sound of it...
get custom springs... if u want a certain height
