I was under the assumption that nothing was avaliable? However a quick look on the RPW site says they are avaliable for $500.

Does anyone have them/have more information?

$500 from RPW = Rip off....

2.6 extractors should pay around $200 - $400.

I threw mine in for free when I sold my 1st gen.

The RPW extractors for a magna are lukey AFAIK.

Ring your local Lukey shop.... Never hurts to shop around.

Worth the money? Well good to everyone with a 4 banger commenting.
I had my engine pipe re-made which cost just under $500 and made a world of difference.
Although for $500 They wont be all shiny like that and they still need customizing to fit (according to the article?)
I would assume after they are made to fit + installation you are looking in the $700 region. + postage...

They do look nice though....Would be a hard decision weather or not to buy them for a sohc though..

DONT buy RPW ones unless you want to pay $500 for a set of crap extractors that will not fit properly, will crack as they are only made out of mild wall exhaust tube and are really not even the value of scrap metal they are made from

A former member from here brought a set, they lasted a few weeks and cracked, Thomas did not even want to know about it, he sent the member to the place that made them and made the member do all the negotiations to repair them.

As stated this is a v6 second gen set.......................!

I have read all the posts about the good and crap ones for 4 bangers with much interest.

RPW has just started making v6 extractors to suit v6 12v. No one else does!!!!!!!!!!!!!to date.....

They state they are there own design and look the goods.

Yes there dear but im sure will come down if demand is high enough.

People say these motors dont need them ..i say rubbish to that, its just a lie by the industry as no one else has made them yet, as there a pain in the **** to fab up. All engines will benefit from a good set. Up until now only custom was available from $900- $1200 Bucks.
You cant tell me the crappy manifolds on second gen v6's flow well ,have a look for your self.

I will get a set but when i don't know yet.

Also any one got custom one on there second gen v6 also...

If any one gets the rpw v6 extractors and give a opinion about them and how they go good or bad I'll send you a free dvd player plus post. lol

They dont flow very well but neither does the engine pipe. I got that remade in mandrel bends and was good enough. Best thing is.....some 1cm spacers on top and bolts up to a 3.5L DOHC motor! Score!

Hey tuffy, how about I but an SOHC and you pimp it out for me.....

Then fit it, and I could pay you in chrome or something.

bit of topic but i find it interesting why they would make them easy enough for crappy 4 bangs but not for the 6 :roflwtf:

also tuffy , mad, how come all you guys with the engine skillz have to live in vic /sigh

Engine skillz, please, dont make me laugh

I'm pretty sure the majority of 2nd gens would be the asstron. That and the manifolds are prone to cracking so they are usually replaced with extractors (which is why you will find them fitted to cars at the wreckers)

I would just get the engine pipe re-made...and if your keen....you can buy some cams from the US and a few other hotbits too..

Its all about having a go..

most things will work with time and effort.

Im from vic lol and have all the skills but not the time or money lol...!

That aside its easy to make a four banner header but a v6 header needs to mate up then become one after the six are joined. etc...etc..and not break..! comes down to basic engineering.

Point B, Is if i had a 4 i would want more from the start..., but the v6 is ok for most up until now where newer models will tramp its ass stock, so now people are looking for new ways to improve there ride..

If we all had the cash we would buy tuffy's setup as it is what a great car should be.

My hands down to tuffy for a great job and an awesome input into this site.

Please do not mention the astron 2.6 as a crappy 4 bangs. They have been in production alot longer than the 3.0 put in magnas.

Early 2.6 were experimented with in the late 70's originally appearing in things like Hino trucks. Production ceased in the early 90's untill they were phased out in the mid 90's. Mitsubishi was also in negotiations with HKS when designing a new turbo engine and made 12 DOHC 2.6 engines, untill it was replaced with the 4G63.

Plus I love my turbo 2.6.

:) /end rant

Coming from someone who has owned both, the 3L **** all over the 2.6's. To be honest, I would prefer owning an alloytec over another 4G54.

MRMACOMOUTO comparing a 3.oL to 86_ELITES 4G is rahter a waste of time. Stock for stock though id rather had an alloytec over both aswell.

Mitsubishi did more with the 4G then they tried with the SOHC 6G's.

Ontop a bit more though, MADMAGNA do you have any specifics as to where these RPW manifolds cracked? By design they dont look to bad, maybe a case of good in theory; bad in practice? For there price (i know they used to be exxy) $500 dont seem to bad (postage sucks) I was going to fab my own set when the rada goes off the road for some much needed work. But for 500+postage+reinforcing might be worth it?

Thats provided the flanges are the issue? maybe its the allignment of the collectors putting extra stress on the welds? Personally i was going to make them from 1.6mm mild pipe and get it professionally coated (similar price)

Correct me if im wrong but all the talk of cracking is related to the 4's not the sixes as there only just been made available. 2nd gen that is......3rd gen v6 are dime a dozen so to speak and may have had issues with cracking aswell but not sure.

Also PRW will coat these for extra....

i know they will coat them for extra, but there prices arent 'trade' so to speak. I always use the high heat black coating on front pipes and headers. I like subtle. Anyways, i believe rpw had had these available for 2nd gens for quite a while actually, i know there were 2 options back in the day (2year ago) and both were basically 500per bank. 500 for the set is pretty good, but personally im not a fan of stainless as a header, but for 500... makes a very intersting decision for rudd to make for me haha.

Mine cracked a bit around the flange onto the cylinder head on the old SOHC motor.

RPW = Fail, this has been proven on many occasions

To be honest it is the engine pipe that is crap on the second gens, get a new one made for a similar cost or slightly cheaper and you will have a more relaible set up than any RPW experimental rubbish that has failed many a time

Seeing as I've never been in a 2nd gen with extractors I cant comment on those specifically but yes for the $350-$450 you'd spend getting the engine pipe re-made its well worth the money....
