Hi guys. Bought a 380 VRX and am looking to fit it out with a dvd player and screens in the headrests. Most screens are 7" these days and the headrests don't look very wide in the 380. Has anybody had any installed in their car yet?

If the stock headrests aren't big enough to fit screens easily, there's a guy on ebay selling statesman\caprice headrests with screens, might be able to use those rather than trying to remake the 380 ones.

Generally when you get headrest screens they will be complete aftermarket headrests, this is so they can be tilted. It will most likely require a retrim to get a colour match however.

I forgot to mention, I know you can buy new headrests with screens installed but they are not technically legal I think. They haven't passed ADR's. Not a big deal for some, but I usually put them in my original headrests. I'm hoping someone has put some in, but it seems it's getting difficult to find the smaller ones these days. 7" is pretty standard but would require more work rather than just fitting in. I will keep looking into it.

7" will definately fit, but modding standard headrests for tilt and aftermarket headrests are both going to require engineering (if what you are saying is true re: legality), so the aftermarket ones would prob work out cheaper in the end.

It depends on the size of the bezel and then the mounting bracket, it all adds up to extra bulk. I'm pretty sure as long as you keep the original brackets etc, where the strength is, that is for the crash testing, it's ok. All these cheaply made imports are a bit of a worry....

i know clarion and alpine used to make a 5" headrest screen (alpine also do a 7 and a 8 inch)

Thanks, I'll look into it, though they may be a bit pricey.....all the less known makers seem to be 7" and up, I'm suprised they still make 7" actually. Things just keep getting bigger.

WOW currently sell Sony 6.3" headrest screens for like $150 they may just fit
