Ok so back to a problem i have had for a while. at slow speeds there is a squeeking sound coming from rear wheels and faster is sounds like harsh rubbing or something.
worked out it must be the handbrake. maybe too tight or something.
Im by no means a mechanical expert, wondering the difficulty level of fixing this issue and how id go about it?
thanks

there are two places you can adjust the tightness of the handbrake.
the first (and easiest) is to pop the bucket out of the centre console and use a 10mm spanner to tighten or loosen the actual cables that connect to the handbrake lever.
the other way is to take the rear wheels off and adjust the actual shoes through a hole in your brake rotor.
I would play around with the lever first to see if it's an easy fix. the cables should be completely loose when the hand brake is off.

Similar problem with my car, gets quite embarrasing at times. I generally just yank the handbrake while driving, not good for the handbrake but temporarily fixes it. I was told its a buildup of brake dust getting caught in the handbrake drum.

Mitsu have a revised brake shoe kit to resolve this, however it costs $240 or so.
Otherwise aftermarket kits can be had for ~$30 or so.
