View Full Version : what do people think ( mag wheels post)

onto a maroon tr magna
Quite a classic 5-spoke style.
The slightly darker colour of the wheel (is it shadow chrome?) will create an interesting effect on a TR/TS, especially if it still has black bumpers and unpainted grille. Combine this with KS Verada parabolic headlights for a true "shadow-tone" look on the car. I don't mind it at all, certainly makes for a different look as opposed to colour-coding everything.
What size are you thinking of getting?
If you have in mind 17-inch or larger, I would recommend going no wider than 215 (not that much space under front guards, especially when negotiating tricky driveways) ; Also, the gap between the top of the tyre and the wheel arch may look more noticeable with the bigger wheel sizes, so lowering may be on the cards. However, if you are only looking at 15 or 16-inch, you could probably get away without lowering the car.
Just my $0.02 worth anyway.
Another alternative is to look around for 3rd gen Mitsubishi Magna or Verada alloys. The Verada ones are 16-inch, and the later VRX or GTV ones are 17-inch

They look like nice rims, my only concern would be the skinner spoke effect they achieve - the TR/TS body shape can sometimes look heavy on skinny spoked rims.
ty for the input all,
as asked above i was thinking going 16x6.5 wheels with 205/55 bridgestone regatta tyres, ( asi hear those tyres are quite smooth with decent traction and low road noise)
havnt got it priced yet and im still open to changing my mind so any other input / suggestions / for sale section link are more than welcome

...i was thinking going 16x6.5 wheels...IMO, I'd go for 17 or 18 inch for a TR/TS.
However, I'm not sure what's legal in NSW for a TR/TS - I'd recommend you investigate that first?

i never knew tr/ts magnas come with 14's?
While 17" mags cost more new, tyres are cheaper for 17's then 16's (well where i look anywyas)

Easy, go wreckers and get a tyre placard off a V6 or Elite. They came with 15" wheels stock=>17" beautiful.

That's what I thought but couldn't confirm it for NSW... (I know this is the case in VIC)
