Im getting my windows tinted this week sometime, got quoted off my mates friend $275 for 20%
I'm not sure if im going to go the 20% or be legal and go with 35% yet, so if people could post up some pics of their cars with 35% or 20% tint and show me i would be most happy:D

Just recently had mine done.
I got darkest legal on the sides (35%).
I also got Limo Tint (5%) on the rear window. (also legal according to the place I had mine done)
With the 5% on the rear, it makes the side windows 'look' darker from outside, without any loss in vision from the inside.
Sorry, no pics yet. :doubt:

no loss of vision? i have 15% all round(as my clar is black so legal tint didnt look dark enough) and at night reversing out my driveway i have 2 put my windows down to see out the back.
also as my mate found out the hard way even if u keep the receipt if a cop wants 2 defect you for it(NSW) then they will and u will have 2 get it taken off so u can get it cleared :(
im not saying i dont love my 15% but it is really fairly dark

Here's 35%(legal tint) all round. bar the windscreen. Mind youso many variables with tint and how it looks eg. sun, dark interior and what not. I too am going darker thinking bout 15%. But is it illegal)as in as soon as the cops see you illegal) on the front windscreen for 35%?

Hmmm i think im gonna go with the 20% If i got the 35% i would end up wanting the 20% anyway, keep the pictures coming guys, especially the darker coloured cars so i can compare.

Yes, there is loss of some vision out of the rear window.
During the day it looks like you have the 'night/day' rear view mirror set to 'night'. You can still see enough though.
At night, I use the side mirrors or hang my head out to reverse - just like any van, truck, etc. has to do.

$275 is not a bad quote for a wagon specially if you have old tint that needs to come off

Can I just point out to everyone, that it's not only illegal if the Cops find you. It's illegal, period.
Which also means if you are in a car crash, and have full comprehensive insurance, and your insurance company sees you have an illegal tint, they can claim that because it's dark it hindered your view and driving and thus they will not cover your insurance.
I would highly reccomend staying within the legal limits, it's simply not worth risking it.

this is illegal full stop, i would definitely NOT recommend doing this. and if u do get it done u will be a moving target every time u drive out the garage

If you check out pics of my ride here:
http://www.aussiemagna.com/forums/showthread.php?t=63366
There are a mix bag of photo's - sunny day, overcast, and night shots.
I have 35% all around and even though I wish it was darker sometimes, it's not worth the insurance risks.
I mainly only wish it was darker when it is REALLY sunny.
But i think its like anything...
You buy 17" rims, you want 18"... you buy 18's, now you want 19's.
If you have no tint atm, 35% will still give you all the benefits of blocking sun, UV, keep the car cooler, and make the car look much better, without being illegal.

Got my mrs car tinted 3wks ago and it's the darkest film on the shelf. Looks awesome, drives like a ****. Why, during the day you can mostly see out but there is HUGE reflective glare inside the glass and it's tough seeing the side mirrors. At night is SCARY!! You have to drive in low lit areas with the window half down to see out. Side mirrors can't be seen at all. Forget about reversing! Any light (inc speedo backlight) is reflected off the windows and make it even more confusing as you get paranoid thinking that there's something next to you in the next lane. Constantly double checking blind spots. I'm going to get the film removed and done lighter as it's simply VERY DANGEROUS and has made a very pleasant car a completely useless mongrel. Don't be another dum P-plater with blackhole-dark glass, be practical - it might save your life and will sure make it easier to sell your car later when it's time to move on.

T35 is legal and the lightest shade available IIRC,any lighter and you wouldnt have any tint, just the factory EZ-cool (no pun intended!),tint that is apart of the stock glass, for it to be as bad as you say,it would have to be T15 or T10 tint,as i have T20 tint, and have none of the above problems, but granted, everyone had different eyes!
T35 or 35% tinting =35 percent available light is going through the windows and so on

Oops. Fixed my post. The chick trying to explain the names of the film didn't do a crash hot job. I think she was just paid to make coffee, open beers and pass lit cigarettes.

Tinting the windsreen is just stupid. The only way you could do this is if you dont drive your car at nite period. You wont see a thing regardless of what % u go. If you are tihinking of this its obvious you havent had a car with timted windows at nite.

I got quoted $380 by Taree Tidy Car, rang my friend who has a friend who owns Get Tinted out here in Forster and said he would do it for $275, its $250 for a sedan, i could get you a deal if you want one.
Im not too sure about going to 20% now, im paying $140 a month for insurance atm or $1500 a year so if i have an accident i want my money to actually cover me in a crash.

Get defected for wheels you can take them off and put them back on, or flog them off. Tint you cant, which is why I went 35%. Its dark enough, people can still see in but its legal.
Many people think if you own an older model before the tinting laws changed, you can say it was done back then. You cant. The tint has changed its formation (not precise on words, but cops can differential between them) so when the cop attaches the laser to shoot through the tint they automatically know. Tinting laws have changed though to reflect the high numbers of imports flooding into the market. Front windows MUST be no darker than 35%, rears as dark as you like. Might be a bit hard though to explain to a cop that the magna was an import LOL

Yeah the guy at the first place i took it to said that the tint on my car is some old style film that they don't use anymore, he could tell by the purple colouring in it where its starting to rip on my rear windscreen, so it was probably put on just after the car was bought
