Hi all,

I recently purchased a 95 TS Magna in reasonable condition and am interested in what mods i should look at.
Budget isnt large but gotta enjoy life too.
I cant go too low as i tow double stacker boat trailers considerable distances but other mods wouldn't stop that.

Has anyone attemped a carputer in a 2nd gen? how does the 7" touch screen fit? and how would i get around the lack of OBDII connector for on board diagnostics display

Looking forward to doing some work on the car and hopefully getting out and checking some other magna's out.

Cheers,
Dan

Looked into this a few years back.

Try mp3.com for info.

Theres heaps out there and im in to it and computer builds. but not car pc' at the moment.

The best front end software to use is roadrunner. works great but need to set it up..hope you now pc's.

As far as the screen goes there are units with touch available that fit into the dash std din.

I'll look into the brands and get back to you.

For a good set up and self installed you'll need between 1-2 grand.

Brand names like pioneer etc ask over 3-4 grand.

Even if the screen is;nt touch it will still have to have good resolution hence the price.

the pc its self can be an old house one like a pentium 3-4 if you want to but takes up room and heat, and needs a power pack conversion.

For best results will need to run linux software but win 98 will serfice.

What do you want to spend and what features do you need etc?

I can't help you with the carputer in general (actually I can .. I have plans but not something I'm focussing on right now .. i was considering hacking a 7" eeePC in that might still happen .. i have a 94 TS Wagon)

But if you want engine diagnostics, check out the other couple threads started about me doing this recently:

There's a youtube video of my little test demo.

MP3Car is a good place for all-things Car PC.

There is someone who's install a PC in their 2nd gen: http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/show-off-your-project/118863-1992-mitsubishi-magna-carpc-pics.html

If you PM MunkeyzManz (AMC WA MEMBER) he might be able to give you a few ideas too, he runs a lot of swanky car PC stuff and is always tinkering with electronics.
