Hey all, does anyone know the load limit of the factory roof rack rails?
I may be buying a rooftop tent soon, and that plus 2 people sleeping in it is getting me worried that i may damage my roof lol
I can't find any info on the load limits of the roof rails anywhere.....

This might help.

It says max weight 100kg but i think this is taking into account that the car will be driving hence the weight will mutiply when braking or going over humps left and right.

There mounted to a very strong channel in the car so aslong as your tent is under the max weight i wouldnt be to concerned about putting two more bodys ontop while the car is stationary. Unless your really fat!

Was that taken from the owners manual? The tent alone weighs 44kg(full canvas), im about 80kgs and the missus would be like 60kg or something.

Yep from the owners manual.

with the weight you stated i wouldn't be worried. Just no hanky pankie lol.

The only thing i would be checking is how the tent mounts to the roof rack as this will be the only real factor with the weight.

If you look at one of the pictures on the bottom row it shows how it mounts to the roof rails, i just went out and found the page in the manual about the racks, and i gave the rails a tug and they feel plenty sturdy, it should be fine i think.
The whole point of making my car a camper is to go and get hanky pankie......... in as many different towns as i can:P

Looks great!

If the pissy racks on the landcruiser in the pic work the magna bars should be fine as i have a set in the drive and there very sturdy.

Could'nt do me a favor and measure the bar locations for me , check out my thread it will let you know what i need as im going to mount mine once i have the measurments.

Good Luck , just stay away from the big women! lol
