My timing belt needs doing,
can anyone tell me if the engine mount requires removal? and if there are any other tricky parts.
Any suggestions to removing the engine mount if the bolts are tight (as they were on the other side)
have a diesel mechanic willing to do it if its not too hard
Car: 3.0L V6 TS
thanks

Hi Dan
Keep the threads down as ive just posted in your other one about the same thing.
Any how The front mount needs to be removed. front of engine that is. Need a big ass spanner as there very tight.
Chuck on some crc etc over night and should be right. Dont forget to support the engine! A block off wood and a jack will be fine under the sump.
not sure about the v6 model but you dont need to move the mounts on the 2.6, you do however have to lift the engine abit and come in from under the sump, ive been informed their are also other ways besides coming through the sump

Cuzman is correct- the side engine mount, aka. the one closest to the passenger guard and distributor, does need to be removed to change the timing belt. Block of wood and a jack under the sump is a necessity to support the weight of the motor.

I think Cuzman was suggesting the "side engine mount" needs to be removed for belt change - the ref to distributor was merely to locate which engine mount he was referring to. He didn't mean to suggest dizzy had to come off, nor that passenger guard had to come off !!!! Lulz!!

i just love how words are taken out of context!
If you are sitting in the car the front left.
The front of the engine.....its mounted sideways...!It has to be (the engine mount) removed so the new belt can be fitted. full stop! V6 model...
The dizzy was a reference side of engine..does not need removal.
Once engine mount is off remove the plastic covers etc. and your almost there.
You will have to remove the bottom belt pulley on the crank which is a bitch..use a puller or two very big screw drivers to lever off ..pull side to side to keep the pressure even...
I'll supply a diagram if needed for timing marks.
expect a few cuts and bruisers but it'll save you heaps of cash.

Or have I missed something? :P
Only reason I chipped in on the thread is because we've just completed the same job on my car, and I had 2 cents to spare.

Timing belts are a bastard to fit but only time wise.
Cheers to all...
