Did the TN SE come from the factory with ECI, or was it optional?
99% sure it was optional, i think the Elante and Elites were the only ones to come in only eci form

got a friend who just brought a TN carbi, so im gessing it was optional or was as meph said for elante and elite
i think elites and elantes ONLY came in ECI, it was an option for all otehr models. I know my dad has a eci glx, and thats the most basic model

Yes they did cos the elantes where based on the SEs and the elantes are ECI and ive never heard of a carbi SE (cept for the TM's), i know the elites are and i remember it was optional on the executive cos my parents had one years ago and and it was

ECI is Electorincally Controlled (fuel) Injection
Carb is carburettor
This help?

in more depth...
ECI - Electronically Controlled (fuel) Injection: An electronically controlled fuel injection pump uses a microcomputer to control fuel injection quantity and injection timing according to running conditions of the engine. Unlike conventional mechanical control (carburettor), fuel injection quantity and injection timing are controlled electronically, thereby resulting in fine and accurate control.
Carburettor is a more simple mechanical device which is tuned to mix fuel and air at low or high acceleration. So, whenever you put your foot on the accelerator you pump fuel into the carb to be mixed with air, there is nothing to stop you from pumping fuel into the carb, as there is no computer. Though, that is a problem when the car isn't started and there is no air being pushed in to be mixed with the fuel for combustion, hence flooding your car.
this is my understanding of the two... im happy to hear from anyone if they disagree with anything ive said

and thats why with a carby u dont slam the accelerator in a drag, puts too much fuel into the carby and it will boag down!

the carb astron II has 83kw and 195nm torque
the eci astron II has 93kw and 205nm torque
if i remember porperly a stock carby model top speeds at like 140 or something? am i right? or is it 170?

yep, think so. top speed i got to was 140. it wasnt going any quicker than that. my top speed is 130 now, larger rims/tyres cut my top speed by 10km/hr :( ohwell, not sposed to go that fast anyway and they made the car look alittle better.
EFI Astron II in the Gen2 has 98kw on ULP, and 102kw on PULP

4 kw extra from petrol change ay  , read the big thread on this PULP vs ULP topic. I got my TP to 170 once, (on a private road of course) I think it was capable of a bit more but I wasn't willing to try it, oh so shakey.
