I have just bought a magna 2002 TK, and was wondering if someone could advise me about whether these has a timing belt, or a timing chain, i read the book but it wasnt in there.
My car has done 114,000k's and the last service checked in the book was at 70,000 k's.. so i was worried that if it has a belt and it wasnt changed, i could wreck the whole motor..
Can someone let me know what my car has..
Thanx

your main belt is a timing belt (v6) and then you have a alternator belt and air cond belt.

Im with Shoot on this one, if you arnt sure, change it.
The cost of repairs is miles more than a belt change.
I did Pookys car even though it had done the service in the book where the belt should be changed, because the dealer who did the service didnt know if it was changed.

Hey,
The timing belt is "due' to be replaced every 100,000kms.
It is quite a big job and will prob cost around $1000 through most mechanics.
I would also recomend changing your water pump at the same time as it is behind the timing belt.
this wil only cost an extra 50-100 but is well woth the piece of mind knowing that you are not going to have to pay for the timing belt to come off and go back on again id water pump goes.
Cheers
Joe
