I have a few scratches on the interior plastic trim of my 380.
The plastic trim is all black, except for the metallic silver/grey bits.
Most of the scratches are hairline and nothing serious, but a couple are a bit deeper. Especially one on the glovebox lid where my daughter dragged the corner of a metal box across it and gouged out a 10cm scratch about 1/2 a millimetre deep.
What I am after is a simply 'wipe over' repair fluid or compound, something that will fill in the scratches and bring the appearance back to new (or near new). Has to be black of course. One problem with the 380 vinyl is that it has a very fine cross hatch grain appearance, so a 'major' repair will just make things look worse, with an obviously smooth patch on a grainy surface.
I've searched the Net and checked out several auto parts shops (Repco, Supercheap, Autobarn, Sprint, Motoquip), but so far I haven't found anything remotely close to what I am looking for. Plenty of vinyl repair kit stuff, but they are all designed for upholstery repair and involve patches & glue - not what I am after.
In desperation I've tried black boot polish but that didn't work either.
Surely someone makes a filling compound or fluid that will do the trick?
Any advice welcome.
KJ.
