After our kitchen is installed this week the Boss wants to steam clean the house carpets (all the dust from the tiling is unbelievable). Going to hire one of the ones from coles DIY jobs, but can I use it to steam clean the car carpet?? Reason is we had it semi detailed the other week and they sprayed "fragrance" by "overpowering" that smells like  S&*T and it is not very good to the pregnant ones nose. Will it help? Is it possible?

Make sure you hire the Rug Doctor carpet cleaner (the red upright one) it comes with an upholstery attachement which you can use to do your lounge / chairs etc. I used it to do the car seats and carpet and it worked a treat and its amazing how dirty the car seats and carpet get.
Just make sure you leave the car doors open for a while afterwards so it can dry completely.
Oh and you need to buy the upholstery cleaning fluid as well.
Plus the Rug Doctor is way easier to use as you don't have to lift the whole machine to empty the dirty water.

Pull out the seats. Pull out the scuff plates.
Pull out the carpet and hang it on the fence with 2 clamps.
Spray it with carpet shampoo and let it sit.
Then hit it with a pressure hose, everything will come out.
Helps to have a really warm day to aid in drying to...

Plus onwe on all that. I would ad that I was put onto this by a guy who used to own the RD franchise in Canberra. He said to forget all the RG chemicals and just use warm water with 1/4 cup of wool mix in the RG reservoir. I was given this advice 10 years ago and have annually done both the car and house. Removes a hell of a a lot of crap from car carpets and seats, doesn't leave them all wringing wet, and the wool mix does a great job of removing odours.

Just a note , the rug doctor will work as i've used it in the past, but is not a Steam Cleaner! You'll have a wet donkey if its a cold day lol.
If the seats are very dirty steam clean it...comes up much better.
