i have a 2000 sportz and i am wondering is it possible to change the colour of the leds in the back of the instrument cluster

Do a search, heaps of people have done it.

If you are talking cluster, then i am not sure. the overlay is red on white. the centre parts you can of course.

If its not a backlit cluster, (dark when engine off, lights up when switched on) then all the globes can be changed.
As mentioned above, do a search. Easy to do and the end result is great!

Like magtone said it's red numbers on white so pretty sure you can't just change the bulbs. Dunno why you would want to either, looks great.

Basically, I dunno.

I have a 2002 TJ Sports (has digital/LCD odometer in the cluster) and you definitely cannot change cluster illumination in that. Myred illumination of white dials is similar to the early TJ Sports, but maybe someone with a TJ Series 1 Sports can give definate advice.

Or you could pop the cluster out and see if there are globes for backlight....... if the back of the cluster is "sealed" with no large twist-in bulb holders, then you have LEDs soldered-in like my dash.

EDIT: If you KNOW it has LEDs giving the backlighting (just re-read the OP), then its no doubt "possible" to have LEDs desoldered and replaced (just as some folk have HU's done for repair or colour-code), but I'd expect it to be fairly costly.

The Sports cluster is usually quite popular, so if you swap it out, you could expect to get some $bukz$ for it

its a 2000 Sports so it cant be a series II. You may put in blue bulbs and turn it purple:woot:

No you cant. I tried blue LEDs with my old sports and the light just does not show through.

Go with the EL dials or learn to love red.
