hey i was just wondering,
i need to replace a tyre on my magna and the tyre is a
215/35/R19
now the tyre shop guy is telling me that i need to replace all the tyres asap as there to small for the car and they are wrecking my suspension and so on.

so what i want to know is. am i about to get robbed by replacing tyres that i dont need to?
are they to small for my car?

cheers

215 is mighty small mate, he might be onto something. your rolling diameter is probably out too?

Stock Magna Rims:
215-60-16R

Rolling Radius: 208.73 cm
Total Diameter: 66.44 cm
Sidewall Height: 12.90 cm

Your 19" Rims
215-30-19R

Rolling Radius: 198.89 cm
Total Diameter: 63.31 cm
Sidewall Height: 7.52 cm
With this combination your speed will be 7.9% less than indicated.

My 18" Rims (Just for fun)
235-40-18R

Rolling Radius: 202.70 cm
Total Diameter: 64.52 cm
Sidewall Height: 9.40 cm
With this combination your speed will be 2.9% less than indicated.

Best Solution for your 19" Rims (For close rolling diameters)

215/40-19
225/40-19
235/40-19
245/35-19
255/35-19
265/35-19

Whether or not any of those sizes will fit a magna, or your rims, i don't know.

Im not sure on the legalities of tyre sizes.

Someone who knows more will be able to interpret these numbers.

JMM90 is right 215 is like the width you'd get on a 16inch stocky. I'd say for 19's you'd get something like 225s or 245s, depends on the rim width.

Rolling diameter is all important.
Close as possible to stock (size) is the way to go.
Your odo is also piling on more km's with the smaller size.

215s are waaaaay too narrow for that diametre rim.

should step up to at least a 235 i would think (well.. i would suggest personally)
handling will improve as well - as the car will have a better grip on the road - esp in the rain

Best Solution for your 19" Rims (For close rolling diameters)

215/40-19 Best option if your wheel offset is 40+ or more.
225/40-19 Will be looking at $300 plus to have corect load rating for AWD
235/40-19 Too expensive unless you want to spend $400+ to get correct load rating to suit AWD
245/35-19 Cheapest option if your wheels have 35+ offset. May fit on a 38+ offset wheel.
255/35-19 Unlikely to fit
265/35-19 Unlikely to fitWhat size has the tyre fitter reccomended that you fit?
