Hay all

Hay all i might be swapping an auto 2003 triptronic for my TH manual magna both stock. I have heard that there performance are similar is that true.? ive had a go at a couple but one was stock and was very close then others i have won. Aswell in general the BA is just a newer car so that why i thought off buying.?

Thanks Kurt

depending on Kms and history of course, give it a test and see how you like it. The BA will be faster. not massively, but will definately be faster. If you get one at a good price and you like it, i dont see why not.

Here in SA at the government auctions there are S1 380s going for 11-12 grand with under 80,000kms on them, might be worth considering something like that since many still have 2 years or so on the new car warranty and are a very nice car to drive.

My brother has a BA and although the RWD is nice and engine is pretty nippy the interior looks cheap and crappy in my opinion.

just reminding my magna is a manual and the falcon is an auto.

you will walk it no worries, they are rather doughy in my opinion compared to even a auto magna, but have more torque, but magnas have much better throttle response

Yup. BA I6 only have the 4spd Auto. Ive beaten a BA XR6 (Auto) in my KE and KJ Veradas easily, multiple times.

Not likely, especially not a manual vs auto comparison, magna would take that crown hands down.

There both 16second cars.

Im not sure if its even worth saying that you won.

my bad on that one i guess. Just figured the 32kW gap in power would make the BA faster.

at work i see alot of BA's coming in for repairs and very few magna's
i definitely like the feel and build quality of the magna over the ford

also falcons are notorious for eating brake pads and rotors... esp the ones with traction control... then theres the diff leaks... the climate control flaps breaking and pouring hot air into the cabin which is only remedied by pulling the whole dash board out.... and the alternator is still mounted under the powersteering pump where it can cop any leaked or spilt oil.... and the gearbox is a german built unit so expect huge $$$ in the event of a failure

admittedly i wont stoop so low as to buy an australian built car...magna and camry excepted.... but its not my decision
