I'm proud to announce I'm the owner of the 1st ever set of extractors for the SOHC 12v 6G72 motor!
I was the test car and I just got it back today.
The results? Well let me tell you!!
Huge improvement in high end torque. I found that in the high end of the rev range, 4500rpm+ that the motor wasn't "choking" like it used to, even though the rev limiter cut in at 6,000 it still felt like it wasn't choking.
Increased bottom end torque. The bottom end, whilst not as improved as the top end, was still noticable. The reason for it not being as impressive as the top end is more likely due to the fact that I still have the stock cat-back exhaust at the moment. In a few weeks I will be investing in a 2 1/2" Mandrel bent cat-back system with the new Lukey LR2779.
When I do, I will definitely come back on here to tell you about it.
I will be taking photos soon so you can all have a squizz at the first ever set in the world of these wonderful pieces of exhaust

12 valve motor ? WHAT EVER YOU DO DONT REPLACE THE EXHAUST. TRUST ME. i bought extractors but i got a new exhaust at the same time and it was ****ED so now i dont know how good my extractors are because the exhaust just took so much power away. LEAVE THE STOCK 2 1/4 MANDREL BEND and just get a new strait through muffler. i got a good muffler mandrel bent and strait through when i had my original exhaust and it was great now i beleived D & T exhaust and my car is ****ed and my wallet extremely light.
good you got extrators but leave it at that just get a good muffler TRUST me or you will be as angry as me. oh and if you want a full mandrel bent exhaust even not in stainless steel you will be paying well over $1700 cat back

oh yeah forgot to mention my extractors are Pacemaker i got them powder coated. they are pretty good , considering the exhaust i got!
they seem to come alive at about 3000rpm and pull strongly from there , if i had my stock exhaust with my good muffler it would be great. I cannot comment of Rpw's extractors because i havnt seen or tried them but Pacemaker are a very respected header maker in australia they have decades of experience and are high quality in both design and construction and it shows in there products. i think my headers are worth about the $600~$800 mark i cant remember that was powercoated

Strange D&T would be behind a poor exhaust, i allways thought they had a good name behind them. We have one over here. But then again it depends who runs it.

1700? I dont know where you got your price from?????
I was under the impression that NOONE made extractors for this motor? Oh well...since everytime I've gont to a zorst place they told me there are none.
Anyway, Windsor Exhaust Centre quoted me $490 for a 2 1/2" Mandrel Bent, cat back system WITH the lukey LR2779 and whatever tip I want.
It's not stainless but I dont need stainless.
$1700? ouch...
I dont see how it would take power away seen as though at the moment it still feels restrictive

When i first went to get a quote from a *caugh* "good exhaust place in canberra" they said naa mate NO ONE makes extractors for a magna and if you want power go for a holden , WHAT A ****ING LOOSER DICKHEAD. anyway i know of atleast 2 places that makes headers for a magna , RPW and pacemaker.
$490 for a Mandrel bent system NO ****ING way , that is PRESSBENT you will be lucky to get a good pressbent for that much , mandrel is WELL over $1000 for the number of bents in a magna's exhaust system you need alot of mandrel bend bits plus labour and if THEY stuff up it costs YOU more.
please beleive me ive been there leave your stock exhaust it is GOOD if not BETTER then aftermarket shit , well atleast unless Apexi or Gready starts making a model for a magna. Just get headers and a good muffler.

I KNOW i got 2 recommenddations to goto D & T in SA on there website they said i would gain 14kw at the wheels they had dyno charts and everything , i ordered the exhaust it took 4 weeks from when i ordered to when i got it all up it cost just over $2000
as you can imagin i was quite ****ed off when i got it hooked up and saw i lost power.

hahaha , hmm anyway im pretty sure they will fit both motors as the exhaust patterns are the same , ask David at rpw is his fit a 12 valve model if they do either will.

I forgot to say..I think the stock TR exhaust is smaller than the stock TE one.
From everyone I've talked to they've said the 2 1/2" was the way to go as it frees it up heaps. Plus the fact that the extractors end in a 2 1/2" pipe...a 2 1/4 would only be a bottleneck and I'm trying to eliminate them.
Are you near windsor nsw widow?
If so I'll give you their number..they've been around for a loooong time and are quite reputable.

No the 24 valve extractors don't fit...hence the reason why they developed new ones.

My stock exhaust was 2 1/4 pressbent stock and it was great i have no idea why i ****ed up and got them to downgrade it.
Dont beleive anyone at reputations everyone said D & T where great and they have been around for ages and it didnt work out for me they sucked.
Im in canberra.

Ah well..it's a bit of a hike for you.
The thing with the area I live in because it's so small and everyone knows everyone (not inbred tho! lol) reputation is the be all and end all of business here...if you're bad..everyone will know.
So knowing windsor exhaust has been around for such a long time and have never heard a complaint about them is reassuring :)
I've seen businesses here go bust because of one complaint. So I'm pretty confident.
Anyway..if anything goes wrong..if they say it will make an improvement and it doesn't they HAVE to change it back by law...
If a product does not do what it was claimed to do..then you are legally entitled to a full cash refund.
That's the law baby! :)

I must say Pacemaker extractors are the way to go.. i have a TJ 3.5L and just got my Pacemaker extractors fitted, they are HPC coated and have made a huge difference! Anyone know what else can be done to a TJ 3.5L Sports which will increase performance but leave me with something in my pocket?

Ok...I now know that RPW is the only place in australia that makes the extractors.
Pacemaker make them for the 24 valve 3.0l and the 3.5 not the 12v 3.0
Anyways...
Widow: I got the exhaust done, and it has made a big improvement again on the top end. Maybe for some reason something went amiss when they installed your exhuast..I dunno...but I've yeilded great positive results.
Im thinking about dynoing my car later just to get a rough idea...as I know they'll never read the same twice..lol
I thought you might like to know about how my exhaust results were Widow. I'll take pics and post them asap.

To clarify the header/extractor situation
(A) The extractors this thread was for was for the 12 valve models and was our race design series which are using very long primary pipes.
(B) The extractors RPW makes currently differs from Pacemaker as we both use similiar length headers (What we call our street design series) but the rpw system coems with a revamped and higher flowing flex pipe where the pacemaker is teh header section only and you have to fit it to the stock and low flowing flexpipe. Larger gains are found more in the flex pipe.
(C) RPW will be releasing a new race design header for the V6 TE on magna's soon which will produce the same top end as our street design, but produce around 30% more torque over the street design. This is the same design we started with the 12 valve model engines.
(D) WE also provide them ceramic HPC coated as well.

The new race design series willbe available within approx 4 weeks time. They are being made on a car now and then have to be test fitted on anothr car to check qaulity control, then produced in mass.
