View Full Version : 2000 Exec ECU vs. 2000 VRX ECU. Any Difference?

Okay. I am currently chucking a heap of crap in my Executive and i have got to the wiring stage.

I have a ECU from a 2000 model VRX, is there any point in putting it in my 2000 Exec?

Some have said i will get power difference others have argued that their isn't any difference. Can anyone clear this up for me?

nah man their is no difference whatso ever. the only difference between the two was the rear muffler...
it would be a pain swapping the ecu too...

I've got entire dash out anyways and fitting Electric Windows so everythings a pain here

from memory, the ecu was tweaked for the vrx to get the extra few kw's.

what sort of 'crap' are you chucking into your exec? also, is it a 3.5L?

Series 1 VRX ecus have the same tune as a series 2 exec/vrx. Series 1 exec has a lower state of tune.

you will need matching BEM, door locks, keys, ignition barrel, boot lock, glovebox lock, to match

Do the series 1 TJs have the exact same mechanicals as the series 2? i've heard around the place the S1 vrx had a different cam to the 150kw versions, then the TJ2 models all had the 'vrx' style cam, but lacked the muffler and tune to get the extra power out of. I'm hoping the series 1 and 2 have the same mechanicals because that means mine is only a tune and a muffler away from some cheap kW. (i have a s1, the 150kw stock version)

I have done a VRX ecu upgrade but mine is a TJ II and notice the gear changes are a tad rough but goes like sink now Throttle is sharper too

KE/KF/KH/TH 3.5 - 147kW

KJ/TJ S1 - 150kW due to revised Cam

Aug 2001 onward TJ S1/S2 - 155kW due to revised tune

Sports and VRX got the Aug2001 tune from the start aswell as the 8kW from the exhaust.

I can swear I can dig up 10 threads with this same info posted by myself alone.
