MAGNET

I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions about changing the engine in my 96 magna.
The old girl has a few hundred to many k's on the clock and is starting to show the signs of to many revlimiter sesions. (it sounds evil with the 2 1/2 all the way through).
I was thinking about putting some kind of turbo jap import engine in and was wondering if anyone knew what might fit the easiest, what would be cheap, any one that does conversion kits and so on.
Or even if a new magna engine with turbo would be a cost effective solution. I feel that it would probably be cheaper to put in an engine that is allready turboed.
Any help or comments would be great. :dancin:

I'd say if you were to do it your best bet would probably be an FTO Engine. They don't come with a turbo but there is a twin turbo kit out for them. I know they're a simple drop in for Lancers (was gonna put one in mine before I had an accident in it) but am not sure if its the same story for magnas or not.

Booya is selling a fully worked 3.0 N/A for 3'500$, a new stock one is 3'000 on special so for an extra 500$ u get an extra 100Kw, it claimed something over 250Kw, or more probably over 250 Hp, anyway hes got the dynos. check the thread in for sale or pm him.

Magnet if I were you I would look at a new 3.0L which most dealers are doing on special for between 3000 - 3200. This would be the best option as your motor would be brand new and would have many revlimiting sessions left on it :D
Booya's would be ok but you have to remember the additional cost of getting a fully programable ecu, tuning it and remembering that booya's has done a fair few kms and has had more than its fair share of thrash sessions lol
Don't get me wrong booya's motor would be great but if it was me, I would get a new stock motor and work on that. Or rebuild / toughen and turbo your existing motor, that would produce STRONG results :D

now its been mentioned the car is a manual, i would look at a rebuild to suit twin turbo, but i think thats around the 10 K , u could ask mitsiman, but then u could trade the thing in on an awd for probably not that much more, guess it all depends what u want to spend.

this engine would last years to come.
its prolly only done a serious 10,000 km since ive had it in, and not a problem

Sorry looking back at my post makes it seem like booya's motor is dog balls lol
Really for 3500 it would be a good option for instant power, you wouldn't have to buggerise around trying to make a stock one go hard. This would go hard straight out of the box :D bolt up and burn away :dancin: yeah baby!
