hi guys, ive got a problem with the car, when im in first gear and im letting out the cluch the car shudders, another one is say your doing like 20 k in first or second gear in the shopping mall car park, and my foot is off the clutch the car feels like its rocking back and fourth,im thinkin maby its the little shock absorber sitting in the rear mount, that could cause the engine to shudder when im taking off in first gear, any help would be great,i swapped it with another used part from the wreackers, but still the same,i noticed that they compress real easy,is that right?or are they supposed to be stiffer than that?

hi

Certainly could be a mount issue once moving as i had the same prob.

There meant to be very firm ..eg stop x amount of horse power moving the engine.

Most seconds are stuffed so try new ones front and rear. The side of the engine.

As far as taking off goes it may or may not be the case.

I'd fix the mounts and if it still shudders in first i'd be getting worried about something else. Prob the clutch.

What is your interpretation of shudder. If you mean rocky or jerky...mounts it is.

If you feel shudder in the clutch then i'd say you have two problems. as above.

good luck.

Cant remember cost on back mount but the front was about $120. for the part.

Have you checked the other mounts for signs of wear?

yea the two sides are very good nick, the front looks okay,if i grab the manifold and rock the engine it doesnt move much, but i do remember that little shock at the back, was easy to push in and out,im getting new clutch kit next week, but i might take out the mount shock and might just weild it in the position that it sits in,would hate to know how much those are brand new.

hi again

am i missing something here as the v6 doesn't have the shock on the mount?

all mounts are std rubber bushes.

well its been a wile since i changed this part but yea you can take the shock out,but the engine still sits on the mount with bushes on it,soooo the shock sits inside the actual rear mount?

ok i get you.

I believe the 4 calender acually has a shock absorber(like a strut) as well as the mount?

that's why i was a bit confused.

As far as im aware the mounts and the rubber inside is all sold as a unit.

try bursons

good luck.

I have replaced the clutch with a new one, properly installed, but the shudder (same symptoms as the original poster described) persist.

My mechanic also thinks it is the rear shock-engine-mount.

I'm yet to get it fixed, but it's definitely not the clutch anymore, because it's new.

It's a small problem but annoying.

To the OP, if you're pulling uphill around 1600-2200rpm in 3rd gear, does it do the same thing as well?

na once the clutch is fully out its smooth, shudders only in first and second, but if im doing under 30k at a constant speed, its back and fourth feeling, pain in the butt:nuts:
