ok, i have gotten a few PM's asking me about this, so i thought i would make a thread about it. i had a set of 17" r34 wheels on my 3rd gen magna. yes they do fit. the offset is slightly different, but not much. they sit out a touch wider, which is only really noticable on the front.

the only difficulty with fitting them is the size of the hub centre holes. they are a fraction smaller than the 3rd gen hubs. for this i used a die grinder to take a small amount out (less than a mm). this could be done with a round hand file or possibly even course sand paper as the wheels aren't that hard and you don't have to take much off.

with wheels its always bes tto give details of diameter, width and offset, because people often sell wheels from vehicles that arent standard anyways.

For points sake, i have some 18x8 +32 on my 2ng gen now (they were from a s13)

I have pics now:D

ok, that's a good point. the wheels are 17 x 7.5 with +40 offset

this was the quickest picture to find of them on the car

loooooook goooooooood MAD082

I was looking for something like skyline or bg xr6 wheels for the verada for mine, to keep costs down mainly, but i decided to call in all my favours from one of my mates and scored these for a couple hours servicing his car.

rears could maybe (with some negative camber, be spaced out 3mm, so a 8inch wide wheel with a +30 offset is the best fit (although not widest wheel you can go) and the fronts are line of sight too +2mm sticking out at the front with 0degree camber. This gets fixed soon and with a little negative camber will tuck them babies up flush/sexy

The peg was my reference point... i was going to use my keys or phone but whats the point when everyone elses is different haha, so the clotheslines was right there and i figure even chimps hang out there clothes hahaha everyone knows what a peg is like.

CUPPAS let us know how they go on your 2nd gen.

they fit fine man. some persuasion needed to get them to sit flush with the hub but theyre on there now. went for a short drive and nothing fell off.

i love the short drive and look for missing bits approach

got me through some rough patches with all my cars.

I got a question guys, figure ill ask it here. My current daily (BA Futura) has inside and outside dust covers for the disc brakes. THe one on the back of the hub is normal, just like all cars, but it has a front one as well, which is just a stamped metal disc roughly 1mm thick. It ges between the hub and the mag, wouldnt this be classed as a slip on spacer aswell? If not why considering they are illegal. Im considering 3mm slip on spacers for my verada once ive got the good camber dialled in. Just to fill the gaurds better (which is why i looked for a good offset/width combo)

for the record, its a good idea to file down the area on the inner edge of the rim that contacts the hub. avoids dramas during fitment, cheaper than machining.

so you did have to take a tiny bit off? also makes getting them off much easier, LOL

im looking at getting some wheels that are 17x8 with an offset of +30 i was a little confused by you posts. in one you said +32 in the other you said +30. if i was to get the +30 offset wheels would i have to space them out? and would this still have the same overall track width as OEM?

i have +32, but +30 would be best fit.

Ive been out and put the car on flat hard ground now and im not so sure. I would say for legallities sake, an 8inch wide with 35offset on the front is the max you can go, i mean one could argue (police) that its illegal. Using a straight edge off the 1.4panel to the ground with a level shows about a 1-2mm gap, so therefore legal technically.

The rears are safe by at least 5mm, so for points sake, a +28 would give the back the same fit as the front with a +35 on an 8inch wheel. To save moneys there are low offset 7inch wide wheels getting around on JDM sites. 300bucks for a set of 17x7 +20 and +22 which will give the the same efect as i have, with a much cheaper wheel combo. Just put the +20 on the rear.

17's are also a much cheaper tyre to buy. If i was picking exactly for my car i would have gone this route but i got mine through a lot of cashing in favours. I had previous picked up a set of 18x7.5 +22 as a favour/cash his way and when they didnt fit on the rada i sold them on to a bloke with a supra.

Now how much this protrusion is evident is dependant on camber aswell and obviously if you need a a neat little lip of the gaurd. I have stock gaurds for now and 0degree camber. WHen ive changed the brakes and front wheel bearings ill get the allignment altered with camber pins i brought for the front, and bring it back to 1.5-2.5degrees negative camber (top in) this will help them tuck by around 3mm. so this changes the best/max fit offset/width a little. Then the gaurds could be rolled and pumped on the front around 3-5mm and up to 7 on the back, couple this with camber and you can almost cram another half inch of rim or offset under there. always remember kids, low offset equals sexy dish. As long as you are adding width to the outside with a up to 18inch wheel you wont foul the wheel on the bodywork, suspension. *** provided it sits within the gaurd***
