might be best to hit a battery shop
tell them what you want and they should be able to recommend something

I know Apricont rocket just relocated the battery to the boot....
Im doing the pipework, it bloody tight. and the inlet side on the compressor is 3 1/4 inch hard size to find.

i just used 3 inch pipe and a straight 3 inch silicone joiner stretched over the inlet of the blower.

I'd personally only buy Australian made batteries, not just because I'm patriotic but they are genuinely heavier duty. I'd ignore what the shop assistants tell you, in realation to using their own branded stuff (and cheap foreign batteries) as their main concern is markup then quality, whereas Australian made batteries can't compete price wise so they have to rely on quality to be viable. Even the batteries the RAA/RACV etc have aren't exactly the highest end battery, but they're probably the most acceptable imported batteries they can find.
The Australian made batteries can take rough roads a lot better than imported batteries, and typically last much longer. One of the causes of battery failure for Australian made batteries after time is people letting the cells run dry (or low), or they top them up with tap water which seriously affects it! Even topping up with rainwater can be less than ideal! (pure water by definition is any water that is safe to drink, not water that hasn't got anything in it) A great product to use in the battery when it starts to run low is Inox battery conditioner, you can extend the life of the battery over what you could have otherwise got with it to the extent thats its definitely worthwhile.
In terms of a smaller battery, I would have though 390cc is fairly small cranking capacity for a Magna. It would probably start fine for the first couple of years but when batteries degrade their capacity reduces, so you may not be as friendly after that time. You can get a light/standard duty battery thats smaller, even for say 430cca, but in terms of longevity, peace of mind etc I wouldn't get anything less than a genuine heavy duty battery - not an imported one, they whack on heavy duty/super heavy duty etc on everything regardless of what it truly is.
Century batteries classify heavy duty as 'High performance' (lasts twice as long as common heavy duty or imported) and super heavy duty as 'Ultra high performance' (three times as long as common heavy duty / imported'). Of course thats off the companies website, but it is an Australian company so again if you find it misleading you can sue. Australian companies can't get away with false advertising, imported companies seem to be able to unfortunately!
btw, Century seem to recommend 450cca for the HP battery and 490cca for the UHP battery. So if the standard battery is 450cca for the magna, going to 390cca would mean a smaller dimension battery, just that its not recommended!

fitting a battery in the boot of your car can present its own problems...like voltage drop... and you need a fully sealed battery for a boot install
if your after a smaller unit with power then look at the odyssey PC925LMJ / PC925L or PC680MJT / PC680T
my preference is the PC925's because of their bigger reserve capacity.. but the 680's will suffice as a strong starting battery
these are not cheap (~$400 for the 925) but all of my clients that use these batteries swear by them and i havent seen one collapse yet
and a decent aussie battery is gonna set you back $140 - 200 so its not too far out of range

Ok my battery is a fullriver SPV44 it measures 202.5mm wide, 171mm deep and 182mm high which is to the top of the terminals. Capacity is 44Ah@20hr rate. 550CCA

For those doing boot installs.
Please for the love of god secure it properly. Like a Moroso battery box.

It is secured properly!
Apricot rocket - from memory you had yours bolted to an MDF piece under the carpet? Didnt say it was a bad way of mounting them - just as a general comment.
Also - is that a dry cell battery? or lead acid?

I have moved mine into the boot to allow room for a CAI.
Optima Blue Top D34M
CCA 750Amps
Capacity 55 hours (C20)
What I like about this thing is it has the typical terminals, as well as an additional threaded stainless steel stud for positive and negative.

Ers - Mine is on a battery tray that is fixed directly to the boot floor. No MDF there at all
Battery is a dry cell.
